I've taken a bit of a break over the last couple of weeks: we haven't left home because of the situation where I am, but my kids have been on holiday and I've been doing more stuff at home with them.

I had a bit of a rough few days with @v4vapp when some of the source code went bad. It's hard to explain to non devs and perhaps I'll write about it. Eventually I tracked the problem down to a typo I made 9 months ago!

A new visualisation of Podping

After seeing some posts on X from @hivetoday and some of the apps he's been deploying which visualize Hive in different ways, I remembered an app someone else wrote at the start of Podping but which has disappeared.

It just watches Hive for each @podping announcement that particular Podcast has updated itself, then displays the cover image of that podcast.

So he wrote the basic structure and I've built a back end (proxying calls because you have to) and voila it is here:

tiles.podping.org

Click on it and just watch! If the cover image of a Podcast interests you, you can click on it and be taken to the page for that podcast!

Really like this tiles App. Gives you a feeling of the magnitude of podcasts out there!
Would be even better if you could click on a tile and it sends you to the podcast and you could listen to it/check it out. Have you thought about that yet?

PS: Have you seen my request a week ago regarding v4vapp and a missing Boost from FountainApp? Didn’t arrive

I found the show (the ö causes some searches to fail).

I don't think you have the value block in the feed itself, which means it is added by podcaster wallet. You need to log in here and make sure the value block looks more like this. You must have the Custom Key 818818 and then your hive name in the Custom Value.

As far as finding mis-sent donations, my node is receiving 3,000 transactions a day or more so digging around in there is nearly impossible.

Btw. Is there a kind of manual yet on how to update/setup the own value block to transfer sats to a Hive account? And is there a way to remove that option and receive the sats in FountainApp alone?

Regarding the missing 3k Sats. Would it help to know the date of the boost? Or who sent it? Where did it go if it didn’t reach me but Gene said it’s sent under his transactions?

If found the missing boost, I resent the value from my account. :-) It is all working now.

If you want you can fix one more thing: in the box in front of the Lightning node address where it says "Podcaster" you can put in your real name there, everything else is fine!

@brianoflondon I like this, it's very neat and had a little dip into the code on Github, as I am a front end dev myself, nothing much to it really is there, and has got me thinking about exploring building some FE apps on top of Hive for, well, anything I guess.

Code typos, you stare at them for hours, looks ok, why the hell is it crashing and then, you see it and you curse yourself, as it's been hours! I feel your pain!

Stay safe, it's looking bad out there, though I never really know with BBC news here in the UK, the story they tell, I am always dubious of. I just wish there were no wars!

When Hive is the back end, it's so easy to grab the data. The slight wrinkle here is that we're calling the Podcast Index API which needs an API Key and I proxy those calls through my own back end and I cache calls so I don't hit the Podcast Index repeatedly for the same stuff.
