Technology has indeed come a long way and has evolved in ways we can't imagine, it has shaped the way we communicate, connect, live, and work. Along the lines of these growths we have had various tech trends that have dominated the market and like every trend, eventually faded away and got lost in new and faster ways of communicating and connecting with people. These old trend although they are no longer in use they bring back lots of memories.
The painful thing about these old tech trends is that I never got to experience it first hand because I was to little to actually operate some of those gadgets but I actually remembered them so vividly, I remember so well when my elder brother @king.saviour had these small nokia sliding phones that had buttons and he'll play and toy with the phone and he'll always use this social app called 2go, another old tech trend that was popular at the time, it's a app where you can message friends its kind of like Whatsapp but not as sophisticated because you had to find friends my searching their specific user name on the app and my mum would get mad at him for being on his phone all the time and even threaten to seize the phone.
I also remember my mum was using Nokia asha , which at the time was a very big deal. My mum cherished that phone and would literally shout at us if we even tried to play games on it or should I talk about CDS and DVDS, those days were wholesome, I remember not only my brother but practically everyone would buy CDS of their favorite movies and music, they were everywhere, there was no household that u would not find a CD player, and for the rich who own cars, there was surely a CD player in their car. I remember how we have so many CD of different shows and my brother would go as far as going to his friend's house just to borrow CD to watch. These CDs ripped most people out of their money, especially people who like watching seasonal movies, watching movies that had up to eight or nine seasons, just think about the money you'd spend just to see the whole thing, it would be a crime If I don't say how annoying the CDs could be sometimes, it had problems with long usage and if not handled properly it would scratch and glitch as it's playing and there was also this problem of not getting what you want, imagine this scenario where you bought a CD to watch Dora the explorer and getting to see a completely different thing like an Indigenous music playing 😅 its funny now but it pissed me off as a kid.
Although old tech trends are now annoying and slow to use, as faster and more efficient ways of communicating and connecting has emerge let's not forget that it was these old tech trends that laid the foundation for more efficient technology. This goes to show how technology rapidly change and adapt to our needs. Revisiting old tech trends sparks nostalgia and brings back memories and also gives us a glimpse into the history of innovation.
As we go forward it's very sure that today's cutting-edge technology will also face the same fate and fade away and be replaced by something more Innovative and groundbreaking
