I am really grateful to be part of this wonderful opportunity to experience true web3 platform and all the goodies it brings and to my friend @funshee who invited me here. I am Rebecca Bolanle Ajet (Chef Beckla) and a native of Ila town in Osun state, Nigeria. Thought I grew up in Kwara state Nigeria where I was born in to family of eight (8) children I am the 4th born I have 4 younger ones. My family and I later moved back to Osun state when I turned Eight (8) years old and there I did my primary and secondary school. I got graduated from high school (2010).
I also got my ND in hospitality management in the year 2014 from federal polytechnic Osun state Ede.
My Passion for cooking, fashion, traveling and adventure made me go through the line of studying hospitality management in college and it was a blissful study altogether for me.
After my graduation from college I was asked by my parents to go and stay with an uncle of mine that lives in Abuja, I saw it as a great opportunity which make me to agree to the idea because life back then at Osun state where my family resided was really difficult. I had to do some menial jobs to support my parents in feeding our family so at that point I thought moving down to the capital of the country could bring me greater opportunity considering how I was in dying need of unboxing my potential and following my passion. Getting to my uncle place in Abuja, things took a different turn for me,I was always been maltreated by my uncle's wife I hardly ate twice a day,I was forced to hawk oranges on the high ways , and sometimes I got harassed by hoodlum. It was a really a traumatic experience staying at my uncle's place I was never happy,I had no time to chase my dreams.
I concluded I was going to leave but I had no funds to enable my going back to Osun state so I ran far from where my uncle's family stayed to an unknown area where I had to sleep in an uncompleted building for several days I suffered from different illness as results of exposure to cold and harsh weather condition it was a really hard time for me but I overcame.
Fortunately I got a cooking job from a friend who always saw me at night at the uncompleted building where I use to sleep. She actually took the bold step of walking down to find out why I always stayed there if I didn't have a home, when I narrated what I was going through to her she felt so concerned and she burst into tears and took it up to herself in making sure I got a better place where I stayed and a job I did that fetched me money for feeding. She was so kind and generous to me she took me in and treated me like a sister which made me nicknamed her 'my life saver' unfortunately she died of Cancer 2 months ago Bose never told me she was battling with a killer cancer, she is one person I would never forget in a hurry she saved me,she stood for what I believe in most importantly she pushed me to my dream I am forever indebted to her for who I am today, Rest in peace Bose.
I can really go on and on talking about her but to cut the long story short I was able to make some savings to enabled me start up a canteen in an open market around my area, I've always wanted to own a restaurant and a big fashion school but due to financial constraints I was unable to set up all at once.
So I started a canteen close to an open market ( lugbe Abuja) around my area,I cooked different local dishes in little quantities at some point I introduced smoothies and some fruit drinks.
Although the patronage wasn't so huge but my passion for what I was doing got me moving each day. Unfortunately after 5 years I ran my canteen I was compelled to leave the place because of some tax policies. I really wished I had enough funds to get a better place to site my restaurant and to continue in what I love doing most.
Three months down the line I went into fashion designing, I had to go acquire some basic skills in fashion design, which I paid for and then got trained for a year and six months. I must say it was a total exciting experience altogether and I will be forever grateful for it. I quickly started practicing my acquired skills in fashion design and later got funds to buy myself some sewing machines. Little by little kept on practicing days ran by, I gained more knowledge, increased in learning got recommendations and good contracts up until February 15th 2020 I got married to the love of my life, my best friend, I had my first daughter April 10 2021 and my second daughter January 2023 indeed life has been a journey for me and I've been enjoying the different phases that comes with it.
My curiosity to learn new things, meet new people and form some great relationship lead me here. I have go round some communities which I will love to start participating in as I start hive journey.
Once again thanks to a great personality @funshee who is taking her time to be my guide in this journey.
