Beautiful and large water leaf's garden in my area.
Entrepreneurship 101: Pitch any business idea, one that you think there are not many people doing it but it's a good avenue to earn money whether offline or online. Even if it's what you do or see others do, just share your thought on the idea and why you choose that business.
What's your thoughts regarding farming? Stressful? Hard? Or lucrative? With my observation's i can comfortably tell you that farming is one of the lucrative offline business one can engage in. Though it's looks stressful, but once you have money to run your farming, you can employ people to work for you using othe people's time (O.P.T). Though am not a farmer for now but people into it is making good money from it. For example, here in the City of Uyo Akwa Ibom State where i reside, people consume lots of vegetables which water leafs is one of their major leaf's including Afang or Ukazi leaf's. Those who farm these two vegetables is on money. Why? Because it's what people consume on daily basis. Infact, almost all the big hotels, restaurants and mama- put as we locally called them cook Afang soup here. Which is the combination of water leaf and Afang or Ukazi. When it comes for wedding ceremony or burial, the first soup is afang soup. Infact, that might be the only available soup in the event. With that, it makes the demand high in the market making it more than lucrative for the farmers.
What of pumpkin leaf's and fresh pepper and tomatoes? Those in this sector of farming is on money. Theirs no way one can cook without pepper. Either dried or fresh pepper. Current, the demand is high because it's only few people are solving this pepper problem to the large masses. What can i say if i dont talk about ginger? That's the latest trend now. Most of the alcoholic drinks and hot drinks has ginger content. Because of its health benefits, people consume it in their homes regularly. But if i may ask? How many people are farming ginger? It's two(2) out of ten (10). The results? Ginger of one hundred Naira before is now five hundred Naira. You can see the increase. Almost four times high. Generally, farming is a very lucrative business with less farmers.
Why farming is more lucrative.
People around the globe consume farm produce which is food. Now that we are living in a world of technology and AI, people don't think about farming but only how to make money from the Internet. After that, they will still look for what to it not so? Sure. So, farmers now serves as problem solvers when it comes for food. In a country of over 20 million persons and only 1 million is farming what do you think that will happen to the price of goods and commodities? Increase in demand right? What next? Increase in price too. That's why a cup of local Nigerian rice of NGN-200 is now NGN- 400. I was shocked when my friend sold a bag of ginger NGN-150,000. Something that's is not upto NGN-50,00 few years back. That's to say, the demand is very high now whereas the farmers are few. Only farming water leaf's alone is very lucrative. It's one of the things on my mind. To start farming since the demand of food's and vegetables is high in the market. I want to take part in farming providing food to people and also enrich myself while solving hunger issues. If you are not yet a farmer, think about it. Look for what people are demanding or consume everyday in your area and farm them. When you do, you will make more money for yourself.
If you own a plantain plantation, believe you are on money. Demand is high but few in the market
