If there is something I love and I can’t go a day without it,. Food is one of the essential things every human needs because it is nutritious for our body and gives us energy to carry out our daily activities as humans. You have a meal that you tag our favourite meal, and we can never get tired of consuming such a meal. Even in my dream, if I am asked my favourite, I will be able to tell you that my favourite meal or dish is rice. One thing about this meal is that there are many ways of preparing the dish.
It is a unique meal that is enjoyed both by the locality and people who are from my country. Like I said earlier, it has many ways of preparing this meal. My favourite is Nigerian jollof rice. Trust me, if you come across this Nigerian jollof rice, you will really enjoy the meal. When it comes to Nigerian jollof rice, I am ready to eat it over and over. Why did I call it my favourite meal? It is a meal I can never get tired of consuming. I am ready to eat for a straight one week without getting tired.
One thing about me is that when it comes to things I like, I am ready to give my very best. When it comes to cooking jollof rice, I was so good at it during my time at the university. Whenever my lodge is having a party, they will always beg me to prepare jollof rice for them.
Items I use in preparing my delicious meal
meat
Onion
Season cube
Garlic
Ginger
Thyme
Salt
Curry powder
Groundnut oil
Rice
Tomato paste
Fresh tomatoes
Bat leaves
Pepper
Steps
Step 1: Wash your protein and put it in a pot. Season it with chopped onions, a seasoning cube, curry powder, thyme, salt, garlic, pepper, ginger, and other seasonings of your choice. Cover and allow it to cook for 5 minutes before adding water. Cook until the meat is soft. You can choose to fry your meat.
Step 2:
I parboil my rice, wash very well, and set aside.
Step 3: In a clean pot, I pour in my groundnut oil, chopped onion, and bay leaf and stir for some minutes. I can’t cook jollof rice without bay leaves. I love the taste it adds to my jollof rice. I add in my fresh tomatoes and allow it to cook so that the water will dry up. After about 10–15 minutes, the fresh tomatoes have dried. I go in with my tomato paste. At this point, I stir my pot while mad because I don’t want my tomatoes to burn.
Step 4: After about 5 minutes, I go in with my seasoning curry powder. For you, season cubes, salt, and my natural mixed spices. You can add any seasoning of your choice. Stir for about 10 minutes. Pour in the rice mix very well before adding your stock water. Cover and allow to cook for about 20 minutes.
You rice is really to be served; you can eat it with a cool drink.
Whenever you are preparing jollof rice, always season your stock very well.
My country has thousands of meals, and Nigerian jollof rice is one of them. If you have not tasted my country's jollof rice, you are really missing it. You need to give it some try. I have seen many people who are not from my country praising our Nigerian Jollof rice.
