The season called for a serious celebration, but one needs to be careful while spending as this economy is not friendly and neither is it smiling. So, when spending, one must spend wisely, or else your money will go to the celebration. We all know that children have to celebrate this season by buying them clothes. When you make them happy, your mind will be at peace, but when you just let them be, you will have yourself to blame as they will remain indoors or even outside shamefully.
My children are still kids, and I had to call them last week just to know their thoughts and the clothes they would want during the Christmas period. I asked the elder, who happened to be a girl and 8 years old. She said, “Daddy, just buy me anything on your mind. I will appreciate it”. I smiled, looked at her, and said, "I think you are growing smarter”.
Likewise, I called the second, who happened to be 6 years old. Not only that, but I asked him, and he said, “Daddy, you will buy me fine clothes and a pair of shoes. You know I don't have shoes”. I pinched myself so hard just because I was supposed to buy him shoes, but I failed to do so. I told him, “Don't worry, I will buy you shoes and your choice of clothes”. He nodded.
I asked my second boy, who is 4+, and he said, “Daddy, I will need trousers and a shirt. You will also buy me shoes”.
The lastborn would accept whatever we bought for him.
I asked my wife, who doesn't love flashy clothes, what she would need, and she said, “Just give any amount, and I will use it to buy something good for myself”.
With the look of things, the calculation is going way too far, but I had to find a way to buy those items before the Christmas period as the price would not remain stagnant when it gets to that period.
My plans after buying their clothes would be to buy half a bag of rice and some foodstuffs for the house, as things in the market are not smiling. Putting up the total money involved, I would be spending nothing less than $70,000. “Where do I go from here?” This has been my question, but I don't have a choice other than to cut my clothes according to my pocket. Although my wife could buy her clothes herself, I can't allow that, instead would buy the clothes for her or give her the money as she has said.
We do travel home during this period, but this time there would be a change of plan. We are going nowhere and will stay indoors to enjoy the holiday together.
To me, this season is for children, but not for adults. We, as parents, just need to make them feel happy by meeting their needs.
Last year, they wore something uniform, but this time they must wear something different.
Presently, I have started with my plans and how to get the money, and even enough just because I would also need some money as a man.
