Looking back on some of the things I have been through in my life and the outcome of some of those things I can't help but count my blessings and name them cause all I can say is God has helped me
Some years ago I was a young boy trying to get admission into the higher institution of learning (University) cause I didn't want any thing else and I remember applying multiple times to different school with out a breakthrough
I finally got an admission into the federal university of agriculture Abeokuta in the year 2020 I was so happy cause the news of my admission came in just about a week to my birthday in the month of MAY of that year but due to the post COVID protocol we couldn't resume as at when due
Finally in the the month of October 2020 newly admitted students were called for the universities medical screening test this made me journey all the way from Delta state where I was based to Ogun state and as a sharp guy that I am 😎 i decided to kill two birds with one stone
I arrived quite early at the universities medical centre on the said date and I was among the first batch of people who were attended to after I was done, I decided to look for hostel off-campus I had two choices of staying around the university gate or live at camp which is like 4 kilometres away from the school
I made some inquiries since it wasn't my first time of coming to the he school I got to know you that people who lived at camp had to wait long for vehicles to convey them to school and this wasn't something I wanted besides I wanted somewhere I could easily walk down to school on days I wasn't financially boyant
So my search for an hostel began I started moving from one hostel to another looking for vacancies to no avail for the fact that some of the hostels were fully occupied or the once that had vacancies were way over my budget of 95,000 thousand naira which amounted to about $200 I had almost lost hope as it was getting late and for the fact that I needed to get back to my aunties place in Sagamu that evening to prepare for my journey back to Delta the next day I decided to try one more hostel and behold there was a vacancy and at my exact budget
After checking the room I check my self to see how I could make the payment but I was only left with exactly half of the money so I begged the agent to help me retain the room with promises of sending the balance the following week so we agreed exchanged contacts and I paid the half before I left
This gave me some hope as I went to work immediate I got back home I had back to back events and I was soon getting close to completing the money when suddenly I broke down from severe toothache which made my eyes cry occasionally and gave me Terrible headache .
We decided to seek the services of a dentist to know what was wrong and I was told I needed to get an extraction which cost almost all the money I had raised at the time about 35,000 naira,😞😔 which was just the amount i had saved up to send for my rent i tried to reach out to the agent to no avail due to poor network services i was filled with mix emotions and when i finally reached out to the agent
He broke a news that made me heart broken cause since I couldn't reach him I decided that when it was me to resume I'll just come with the whole money and on getting to school he broke a news to me that one of the other agents in the house and got someone who needed to rent the house and then they broke the key and give the house to the person and refunded my money back to him so he was going to also refund my money to me which he did
This meant I had to start searching from the scratch again the thought of this made me even more sober for the fact that I was still recovering from the tooth extraction I had but then I decided to talk things up with my friend Bukey one of the first friends in funaab i meet Bukey through my anty who lives in sagamu since they were neghbours and we were applying to same school we linked up and travelled together back in the year 2017 fortunately she got admission that year but I didn't
She offered me some help by allowing me to stay at hers while looking for a place for my self to this was one of the most kind gestures I received cause she had to beg her roommate to go to a friend's place while I stayed with her she also linked me with some agents
But in all this I couldn't really get a nice place and just when I was about to loose all hope she told me a friend of hers was moving out of his place to another hostel we went and checked it out and it was perfect though it was more than my budget of 95,000 naira with about 250000 naira which amounted to 120,000 naira but in the end it was worth it. cause this place came with a kitchen cabinet which the other hostel didn't have also the floor was tiled again the old place where I was refunded wasn't and the environment is peaceful and I can't be more greatful for the gift of her as a friend and how my almost hopeless situation was turned around for my good
