BEING THERE FOR A FRIEND IN NEED

A closed mouth is a closed destiny, so they say, and trust me, they were very right. I had this friend with whom we used to talk from time to time. She was meant to resume school at a particular time, but she didn't, and I had to reach out. She then told me that she wasn't feeling too well, and I showed genuine concern, told her to take care of herself, and also checked up on her from time to time.

Suddenly, she called me this particular night, and she was crying. She told me she wasn't okay at all and briefed me about what was wrong. I remember crying with her that night. I really do not like when people go through hard times; it breaks my heart. The next morning, I set out on a journey to meet her at her place, far away from school—another state, precisely. I had to check up on her physically and understand what was wrong better. I left school, business, and everything I was doing without thinking twice.

I got there, and I realized it was actually a very big matter. Apparently, she made some really bad decisions, and she got so scared and worried that it started affecting her mental health. Her parents were very strict, and I think that was what affected her more. She spoke out about everything, but it had eaten her so deep already. Together with her mom, we went to the hospital and a few other places.

I wasn't expecting the matter to be that serious, so I took just an extra cloth with me when leaving school. Guys, I ended up spending about a week or two; I can't even remember precisely. I had to go to my parent's house to pick up some extra clothes when she was more stable and sleeping better (we live in the same town). I had to be there for her through the entire time, assuring and encouraging her that all would be well again. I would pray with her and even play her some songs I thought might help.

Due to the buying of drugs and all the hospital bills, the family was already low on cash, and as much as they didn't want it to show, I noticed. I covered up the rest of her hospital bills, and with the remaining money left on me, I went to the market to buy some foodstuffs for the house. I bought meat, pepper, and so many other things; maybe a nice meal can lighten up everybody's mood for a while. I made sure she ate well, even when she didn't want to.

I had to stay until I was sure she was extremely better physically, mentally, and emotionally. Her family members were very supportive, and she was very glad to have me around as well. I was glad that she opened up to me and allowed me in; that was the only way I could have known and helped. I was just grateful for being able to help her and for the fact that she got better and everything wasn't in vain. She was very grateful as well, and her family was, as well.

Thanks for reading❤️

Thank you so much, I will😊❤️

It was very nice of you to think of helping i mean not all friends can do that only the real ones . Keep up doing good sister.

Thank you so much🙏

That’s touching. The evidence of true friendship is putting someone else before you (or so they say). You do it without thinking

Yeah, thank you so much😊

You left school to stay with a friend in need that was incredible, I really admire that of you, glad your friend is feeling better now.

Yeahh, I am also glad she is a lot better now. Thank you so much❤️

One of the things I have learned ahead of parenting is to be my kids best friend and your friend could have continued suffering silently if she didn't have you pour out her mind to.

You did a great job standing by her all through and that's the true definition of friendship.

Yeah, honestly, parents should learn to present themselves as approachable and also be ready to give their children listening ears always.

What you did for your friend is very rare and admirable, you could have just wished her well on the phone and stayed put but you went the extra mile to make sure she is okay.

I pray that we all have someone in our corner that we can lean on when things get very tough.

Yeah, it is very important, thank you so much🙏❤️

You actually did more than what an ordinary friend would do. God bless you!

Amen, thank you so much!

Guys, I ended up spending about a week or two; I can't even remember precisely.

Yoooo, that's serious Pearl. I think I am not wrong to say you did more than just 100% for your friend. Staying a week plus, footing some bills and buying foodstuffs is a lot. That's greatly commendable.

Thank you so much, I was very happy to be able to help. If I were unable to, I would have been devastated. They needed all the help and support they could get

Yeah, I know how it feels to want to help but can't help.

You are welcome.

You showed her that you are a friend indeed, someone she can always count on. You supported her physically, emotionally, financially. Honestly, one like you is hard to come by. I can't wish for a better friend myself.

Aww, thank you so much for your kind words momma❤️
