A woman on or before her period will always craves something, or is that just me? During ovulation, I enter into a state of constant feeding. I am always craving something, most especially meat. I just want to sink my teeth into something and most of the time; I am on a stringent budget to afford more than I have planned.
However, there are days when we just get that wish fulfilled and mine was in the form of burgers. Like I said in the beginning, I have been craving meat, and if it is not a sharwarma or kebab, a burger will do. So, I made one. Here are the things I used to make them:
- 1 kilo of beef
- Bread rolls
- 1 teaspoon of Black pepper
- 1 tablespoon of powdered Curry
- 1 tablespoon of thyme
- Four Terra/Maggi cubes
- Two small sizes of Onions
- Two eggs
- Breadcrumbs
- Mayonnaise
- Four slices of Tomatoes
- Four Lettuce leaves
- Four Onion rings
- Two table spoonful of cooking oil
NB - I made a starting mistake by boiling the meat, however, this would prove to be useful later on.
I put my meat in clean water after washing thoroughly with salt and removing dirt. Then I grounded in two Terra seasoning cubes and added a tablespoonful of thyme. I let it boil for five minutes then I took it down. I then proceeded to use a knife to chop it into tiny bits like this.
Then, I went ahead and to use my blender to carefully blend it to give it that texture (malleable). You can touch as you blend to make sure you do not purée-fy it.
I was satisfied with the outcome and then proceeded to dump in my curry and two more cubes of Terra seasoning (you can use Maggi or soy sauce). I grated a piece of bread, chopped two small sized onions into tiny bits, and added it, and then I mixed it all.
I broke my eggs into a different bowl, and then made sure to take out any of the unwanted shells before pouring it directly into the mixture (I did not beat the egg). Then I mixed again, added in my black pepper and mixed it all again.
By the time I was done, the mixture was soft to touch and malleable too. Then I proceeded to heat my pan with cooking oil inside. While the oil heated, I proceeded to take small handfuls of the mix and roll them into a ball before flattening them on my chopping board. When it was as flat as I desired, I proceeded to put them into the oil to cook.
As they cook, give them five minutes before flipping or when you perceive burning smell. I led by my nose in this one and would flip once I perceived that drying smell. It did not scatter and held perfectly together as it should.
When I was done frying the mix, I took one medium size onion and sliced (after washing) into sufficient rings. I did the same for the tomatoes and made sure to wash the lettuce thoroughly to remove dirt and sand.
When my dressings were ready, I took the bread roll and spread mayonnaise on it, then put a leaf of lettuce after and then the patty on the lettuce. I then put my onion rings after that and then my tomato slice. I closed the roll and my burger was ready.
I wanted to make this a full plate, like @tengolotodo here…
…but I was famished to fry them potatoes. Therefore, I just had my burgers with a chilled can of Amstel Malt and sated my craving. You can make these too. Not difficult at all, just follow the instructions and you will be fine.
