Driven by my vision, I took the initiative to hold the event, Hive Social Xperience in my school, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta Ogun State, to bring more awareness of Hive on campus at the university. I had first written the plan of having the event since last week, and it held 4 days ago, on Friday, 13th of December.
The event had over 50 people registered; there is also another form I made for late registrations for people who were interested but were not able to register when the ticket for the first registration finished.
We can see the responses on the Google form had about 12 responses, and that is about 62 registrations in totat.
The Number of Attendees
Even with the fact that the event started while classes were still going on and the school is in test period, we were still able to have 45 people that attended the event. This is a high number for me considering that I started announcing the event only a week before. The school is having an ongoing CAT period, and the event was done during school hours.
My Presentation
I was the first speaker; I was invited on stage by the MC, who is now a hive owner @dayo.codes, thanks to the awareness the event created.
My speech was to introduce everyone to Hive, and I spoke about a few things about Hive. I made use of presentations and yes, we also had infographics that had been printed and shared with everyone that attended so that they could also easily follow along with my slides and also have to take them home if they needed the information on them. That way, it can also sell out Hive to their friends at home if they see the infographics.

I talked on each of these points and even extensively on other things not included in the slides as well:
- Web2: The Problems
- How Hive Solves these Problems
- Benefits of Hive
- How to Earn on Hive
- How to Sign Up on Hive
You can find each of the points stated for each topic on the presentation slide link shared above.
We also had @olujay as a speaker. He showcased Hive, let people see that the platform we are talking about exists, showed our accounts, showed the process of signing up, the function of each key you get when signing up, and spoke about communities on Hive, the Hive Naija community and also the Hive community in the university.
Existing User's Stories
This section was for where people who are already on Hive would come up on stage to share their Hive journey, the good and the bad so that others could have a more general view of how it is to be on Hive. We had a few of us that came up on stage to speak for that, although I don't have all the pictures of everyone that did but these are the ones I do have:
What's Next?
It does not just end here. There is a lot of work left behind the scenes and that involves creating accounts for people interested, looking out for them and also building the community in the university. Soon the dream will go as far as building a stable Hive community not only in Funaab but on other campuses as well.
