First of all I would like to give thanks to the Almighty God for not allowing me to die of food poisoning today. It wasn't a small issue, I have been checking myself through and through to ensure I am not food sick. I was so excited to see this prompt while looking for what to write because it was just in sync with what happened to me today. It's no news that I'm a foodie who likes to try out new things, but there are things I wished I never tried out and today was one of them. I've had to visit the pharmacy immediately after work just to be sure that I am okay. Well it turns out that I am okay, at least I have not seen any signs of food poisoning for over 6 hours now hehe… I hope I do not see it.

I started my day very busy, after waking up late, I quickly rushed to the bathroom and ensured I had water on the cooker boiling before I finished bathing in 3 minutes. After that I quickly took my meds, as I was wearing my clothes, made custard and finished it within 5 minutes, then I ran out to catch the first bus I saw. Thankfully I arrived at work right on time, but before I could sit a little to catch my breath, I had a lot of work already waiting for me. Turns out my company decided to finally release the funds to get me laptops I had been hitting on for over two months, but for me, it was a very wrong timing. Either way I had no choice but to go into the market for gadgets.
I forgot that the meds I took were really strong and inside a gadgets market were as weird as it was, there was nowhere to buy food. At about 3:00 PM my body was already shaking, I didn't know it was the medicine I was reacting to, but knew I needed to eat to be okay. So I saw this roadside hawker selling what I thought was Abacha (An igbo native food). Everyone around was buying from her, as though she was a life saver, so I decided to call her too only to discover it's a hausa native food that had become popular in that area. I looked at it not even knowing the name, it was looking like a bowl of red moi moi, which from the site I knew wasn't moi moi.
I wanted to tell her to go because I didn't know what she was selling, but then I thought to myself “only God knows when I would see something to eat as I still had a lot to do there and wasn't sure if I could walk a long distance at that point in time. So I asked her how much whatever she was selling was and she said 500 naira. I asked if there was meat or fish and she said it was finished. So I told her to give me whatever it was she was selling. After she finished serving that stuff, she asked if she could put water in it, and I was like… “oh they even put water in this…
So I said she should, at least if I'm going to eat what I don't know I could as well eat the complete version. By the time I put it in my mouth I began to wonder why everyone was rushing it. I didn't want to look odd, so I was busy swallowing every spoon I put in my mouth until I finished it and the torture was over. I felt like vomiting afterwards and regretting why on earth I got it in the first place. What pained me the most was that The Abacha I thought it was finally passed in the process of me going through the torture of swallowing whatever it was I was eating.
