This has been a great fear of mine and I will boldly say that my early stage of life and also being an introvert make me very shy to face crowd and bigger audience. I will like to share my experience of public speaking. It happens when I was in my second year in senior secondary school. It happens that senior prefects are taxed with the duty of addressing some selected topics. Being the health prefect back then I will have to address the whole school on health related topics. In my first attempt I was given Food and Nutrition. I was amazed as the topic given to me is something very simple I can present without checking text. The only thing that spoiled my joy was my confidence to face Audience. This shyness of a thing has cost me many things. Throughout my primary and junior secondary days I only represent my class or school in debate and I always come out in flying colors. But as for debate I seized to represent my class after a bad performance at the preparation stage.

The Beginning of an Era

Monday is the day assigned for the presentation. My fans, friends, teachers and the whole assembly is ready to listen to my presentation. One thing is that I have fans supporting me because of two things; one is my height, I happens to be shortest student in my class and the second thing is my attitude towards my juniors.
Before the day, I have heard a lot of people giving me several strategies to curb the shyness and face the crowd to present my assignment. I only believe in myself and I have the thought that I can do it and I must do it well.
I started my presentation by defining Nutrition and linking Nutrition with food. I started the presentation facing down and at some point the fear disappeared after my brief introduction which was presented in a shaking voice.

Nutrition begins with food. Nutrition is the process by which the body nourishes itself by transforming food into energy and body tissues. Food provides essential substances called nutrients. The body needs these nutrients to help it to grow, repair and maintain its tissues and to keep its different systems working smoothly.

After this paragraph I have gained momentum of confidence and could barely face my classmates. Then I make more emphasis on Nutrients.

Nutrients
The nutrients are divided into six major types: carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins, minerals, and water. Each nutrients perform specific functions to keep the body healthy. And all the nutrients work together to contribute to good health.

Then I explained further on each nutrients, the types of foods that falls under each nutrients and the benefit of eating them. I also discuss about Malnutrition. In addition I added the merit and demerit of taking too much sugar, majorly this is done to educate my teachers.

At the end of the presentation, I observe my increase in confidence to face crowd and I could easy walk around before the end of the presentation.

I left majority of my friends surprise because they couldn't believe I will be able to do it, and this has also forster confidence into my classmates that are like me. The day is memorable and also a morale booster.
