Hi everyone, And welcome to my blog. I was just scrolling through when I came across this eye-catchy contest and decided to participate in it because, as a Nigerian, if you haven't had any issues with the bank, either you don't have an account or you are not based in Nigeria. Every Nigerian that is based here and also has a bank account will surely have an experience to talk about, and here is my own.
When I opened my bank account, I opened it as a student account, and I did my BVN, so I have been using it without any stress except for the fact that they will always deduct your money for one thing or another, which is always very annoying.
One day, I went to work and misplaced my ATM card, so I have been using my phone to make any transaction with the USSD code. All of a sudden, I was restricted from using my USSD code just because I tried it different times and it was not going (network issues) and I needed to use the money at that time, so I was advised to go to the bank and sort it out because I didn't have an ATM card. I got to the bank that very day and lodged my complaints, and they told me to get a new card because without that, I wouldn't be able to make any transactions, so I requested another ATM card, which was another expense that I didn't plan for but didn't have a choice but to do. They were just transferring me from one place to another, which was really stressful, but I had to do it. I finally got to the place where I was to collect another ATM and met a long queue. I just joined them and waited until it was my turn. I was given a form to fill out, which I did and gave back to the lady at the front desk. The lady that even attended to me was nothing to write home about; she was just busy going from here to there before attending to me, but I was patient.
After filling out the form, she inputted it into her system and gave me a paper, and she referred me to another place again, telling me to go and collect my card there, which I did. On getting there, I met another queue, which was really annoying at this point because I was hungry and tired already. It got to my turn, and the man attending to me this time was not on duty, so I had to wait till he returned. When he got back, he collected the paper from me and was checking some things that I didn't know on his system, after which he gave me my ATM card and referred me to another place, saying I should go and activate my card there. I got there and met another queue, but this time it was much like the others. I just waited till it was my turn, activated the card, and was told how to activate my USSD code for transferring again.
After doing all of that, I left the bank, got outside, and bought a chilled drink to calm my nerves because it was really frustrating.
but at the end of it all, This is my country Nigeria😂
