Fiber optics in this part of the world is not just splicing trays of closure, neither is it limited to splicing cabinet. It involves box maintenance as well as box decongestions. This is a daily routine and it can be quite interesting especially when done right. Box clean-up as we popularly call it is not a straight forward thing as documentation is a major requirements. As a technician, you have to figure and document the optical power distribution.
For instance identifying the cable provisioning the optical power is very essential, separating customers cables is as well important. Another thing is the cables distributing power to other boxes as well. When a box is congested, troubleshooting in such a box becomes difficult. My daily routine involves and not limited to box clean-up
Initial state of the box before clean-up the splitter part
Initial state of the box before clean-up the tray part
Final state of the box after clean-up
It is important from time to time to ensure that everything is well arranged and everything is in order. I do this for a living as a fiber optic trained and certified engineer and I am happy with my job.
Cheers to everyone that love what they do on daily basis
