Sometimes, we get so focused on what we lack or who we aspire to be that, overlook all the amazing things we already have. I'm very sensitive to my flaws and often find myself comparing myself to others. But after seeing the inleo prompt yesterday, I got captivated by the topic and I felt inspired to reflect and appreciate myself.
I can't say I'm very positive, I doubt sometimes and have moments of negativity, yet, I have a positive self that always keeps me going somehow. Life can be hard and unfair sometimes but there is this inner peace and serenity that calms me down and happiness from within that makes me stay positive and unbothered. It's hard to describe, but I have come to realize this inner peace is a blessing I never truly acknowledged until recent years and I just love myself for being so peaceful, happy and content, it's a blessing to my mental health.
Let me talk about the obvious, my physical appearance. One of the features I genuinely appreciate about myself is being beautiful. I know this might sound somewhat controversial to say out loud, but I know I'm beautifully and wonderfully made. I may not think of myself as very pretty, but I know I do enjoy some “fine girl privilege” haha. Anyway, it is a small joy every morning to look in the mirror and see a beautiful someone smiling back.
Another trait I love about myself is that I can be independent. As crazy as it may sound I have met people who find it difficult to function alone. They are like lichen, always attaching themselves to someone. It's really a blessing to be independent and be able to do things at your own will, not waiting for your friends or other people's validation. I love that about myself and I'm glad I could do a lot of things without waiting for friends. I know it might sound petty and minor to some, but it's a huge blessing, trust me.
I'm also proud of my intellect and talents. I really don't want to brag but I love that I'm brilliant and creative, and I can easily pick up a new skill if I put my mind to it. Mostly vocational skills from tailoring to hairdressing, bead-making, crocheting, art, fashion and designing, and the like. I'm always eager to learn new skills and learning comes naturally to me. Although I have not been using my skills well, I will put them to good use soon.
And lastly, I love myself for being good. I know this sounds controversial to claim, but when you are genuinely good, you will know, you can't deceive yourself. I have worked with a lot of people and organizations, and I have never really had any major issues with any of my bosses. It is very intangible but it is something I really love about myself and it has helped me build goodwill personally and for my brand. This natural trait of honesty and transparency has always been something I'm somewhat proud of.
In conclusion, it is very important to take a step back and think of what we love about ourselves. We should take some time to appreciate and admire ourselves more. It can help to boost our mental health and self-esteem. This inleo prompt made me pause and appreciate these aspects of myself, and I'm glad I'm able to participate.
