I have been wondering what the difference is between buying a new product or a preowned A-grade product. When you get them, you find that the preowned grade A is so neat and clean that you can even mistake it for a new item if you were told it was new. This is common on products like phones, laptops, televisions, cars, and generally gadgets or electronics.
Now, I recently got an ergonomic chair that is so comfy and I didn't get it new. At first, I was considering getting a new one but because of the depth of my pocket, I decided to check out the possibilities of getting a very good and neat preowned chair.
At first, I was considering getting a gaming chair. I have never owned one, and I have always dreamed of having one. A friend of mine has a gaming chair and I kind of like how it feels to sit down on it. Since then, I have tagged it as something I would get as soon as I could afford it.
The price is 260,000 naira on Jumia, which is a popular online Nigerian marketplace and since now is not the time I can afford this beauty, I could not go for it but instead I went for something else.
So I decided to go for this ergonomic office chair. At first, I did not have it in mind to buy this chair, but I found it at the store where I went to buy a preowned chair to save expenses. As my eyes caught this chair at the store, I immediately had to ask for the price they were willing to sell the chair for, and I was told that it was 110,000 naira. Knowing that the price of new ranges from 150,000 naira to 200,000 naira, I had to negotiate the price in hopes that it would be reduced.
I was able to bargain the price down to 97,000 naira. Initially, my budget to get a chair was 65,000 naira but with this price, I was forced to up my budget because this price felt like a steal comparing to actually buying a new one. The chair is as neat as a new one and really comfortable.
Before taking it home, I had to check the chair well to be sure if it was okay or if something may have happened to it for the seller to agree to my bargain but it was absolutely fine. I had to make sure to pay for the chair and leave the store before the seller changes his mind or takes his phone to check something and then comes out to say he is not giving the chair for the agreed price any longer.
As for my former chair, I have given it out to a friend and told him to take it to a welder to repair it. Although the chair is no longer very comfortable, that is why I am getting a new one.. When I am sitting on the old chair working, I get to feel pain in my bag, which can be very uncomfortable.
If I tell anyone I got my chair new, for real, nobody will argue with me because of its quality and neatness. This makes me ask the question, Buy New or Preowned Grade A: What is your preference?
