The Nigeria I once knew!

Remembering the Good Old Days

As I sit here reminiscing about my childhood, I'm flooded with memories of the carefree days spent exploring the 'veterinary bush' in front of our house. My siblings, friends, and I would venture into the bush, plucking fruits, playing, and spending hours there before returning home. Those were truly fun times, filled with laughter and adventure.

As young girls, we would roam miles in our beautiful area without any fear of danger. We felt safe, and our parents didn't worry about our whereabouts. I wish we had taken more pictures to capture those memories, which still bring a smile to my face.

However, years later, we can no longer enter that same bush. The reason isn't that we've grown up and moved away to higher institutions, but because insecurity has become rampant. Kidnapping and killing have become common occurrences in that once-peaceful bush. The thought of it now sends shivers down my spine.

Every day, we hear news of kidnappings and killings. Farmers are afraid to go to their farms, and travelers are scared to venture out. The situation is dire, with kidnappers demanding exorbitant ransoms. It's heartbreaking to see our country, Nigeria, in this state.

My heart is broken, and I pray that God heals our dear country and restores peace. I pray for forgiveness and an end to suffering. May God grant breakthroughs to those in captivity. I believe Nigeria will rise again and become a great nation. God bless Nigeria. Amen.

While we pray for peace, we must also take action. Here are some ways I think we can contribute to positive change:-

  • Support organizations working towards peace: Donate to or volunteer with organizations focused on conflict resolution, community development, and humanitarian aid.

  • Raise awareness: Share stories, articles, and personal experiences to keep the conversation going and inspire others to take action.

  • Encourage community engagement: Participate in local initiatives promoting peace, dialogue, and understanding.

  • Pray and stay informed: Continuously pray for Nigeria and stay updated on current events to remain engaged and motivated.

Together, we can make a difference and work towards a more peaceful Nigeria.

Feel free to share your own ways you think we can contribute to the positive change of Nigeria.
