How to Get More Eyes on Your Post

I just realized that my title could be taken in a very gruesome way, but you won't interpret it that way, right? I mean, as though actual eyeballs were... oh, nevermind. Onwards:

How to Get More Eyes on Your Post

When I was first introduced to Hive way, way back in September by the illustrious @shadowspub, she (@shadowspub) tried to tell me about Dreemport. However, I think she correctly sensed that I was already overwhelmed, so she backed off the topic. Seven short (?) months later, I finally meandered my way over to find out what Dreemport is and why I should care.

@dreemsteem does a really good job of explaining it in this post, and even has a video. https://ecency.com/hive-150329/@dreemport/how-do-i-use-dreemport-its-easy-

However, I wanted to write about my experience using the platform, and how easy it was to set up my account. First, let’s talk about what Dreemport is not. I expected it to be another front end for Hive, and it is not. I don’t know why I thought it would be, but that was wrong, and if you think that, think again.

What is Dreemport?

First, where is the Dreemport server? Here it is.

There are two main aspects to Dreemport: the first is that you can submit a story from any platform – Hive, Medium, or anywhere. However, the story you submit is not stored on the server. Rather, there is a link to wherever your story “lives.”

The second part is curation. You are allowed to submit one story per day, and, to do that, you have to read five stories and rank them. The best stories of the day each day receive DREEM tokens.

Why I love it

This is awesome because you can get more people to read your stories without being “known” to anyone. Furthermore, as a reader, you are exposed to more writers than you might encounter every day.

I thought that reading five stories might be a lot, but it really wasn’t. I realized I read tons of articles every day, so it is not much to read five more. I think we all read more than we know, particularly on Hive.

What are the steps to signing up?

First, you sign up using your email address and a password you create. Then, you confirm your email address. Next, you can set up your profile with your blogs including your Hive blog and any others if you have others. You can add your profile image and some details if you want to as well. It is a very straightforward sign-up process.

Then what?

After you sign up, you need to curate five stories. You click on “curate,” and the stories are presented to you. You read each one and then click on “accept” or “reject.” I suppose if you think a post is truly terrible for whatever reason, you might “reject” it.

I notice that when people read a story on Hive that they come to from Dreemport, they usually add to the comment something like “came via @dreemport.” I don’t know whether that is a convention, a courtesy, or a complete nuisance to @dreemport (getting a zillion mentions per day).

Then, after you have accepted or rejected your five stories, you have to rank the ones you accepted from the one you liked the best to the one you liked the least. That’s it. You have curated on Dreemport, my friend.

After curating, you can submit your own link. There is a quality assurance process (how do they do it?) to make sure that the content submitted is not… well, they phrase it nicely, but I will be blunt and say “total garbage.” I do wonder how they do it because it seems like this would be a highly labour-intensive process, and there are only so many hours in a day.

Conclusion

There is not much more to say. I hope someone lets me know if I missed any important points, but I want to keep this short because my point is really that this is easy. It is much easier than I imagined it would be. Besides being straightforward, it is a way to get more views on your work, both on Hive and off. While there is no “upvoting” or “downvoting” directly on Dreemport, you can vote on a Hive article while you are reading it or you can “clap” for a Medium article while you are reading it, so it is very cool.

I have known a little about the Dreemport project for a long time, but it took me a while to get around to figuring out how to use it. I shouldn’t have waited. It’s a fun and easy way to increase your readership.

There are so many cool Hive projects that it is hard to keep up and know about all of them. As I make new discoveries, I will be sharing my findings. I already have a few things in mind that I would also like to tell you about, but they will have to wait for another day.

P.S. Before then, I feel like I would be remiss if I failed to mention @shadowspub's Pimp Your Post Thursday on the Dreemport Discord server. This is another great opportunity to share your work (one I have neglected to take full advantage of thus far). I am told it is an opportunity to share your posts (from on and off Hive) as well as fun and an excellent chance to meet fellow Hiveans.

It is every Thursday at 11am Eastern, which is 3pm UTC (according to my Google Home, which, admittedly, is not the brightest little AI.) Here is a link to @shadowpub's latest post about it, which gives further details: https://ecency.com/hive-171372/@shadowspub/april-14th-pimp-your-post-thursday-recap

Love this! hahaha wow... hehehe very unexpected and very cool to wake up and read this!!!

It's probably super bad marketing on our part to NOT stress over and over - that DreemPort isn't just another front end. hahahaha But in a way - it was a choice we made to kinda let people just eventually wander in and find out for themselves. I mean - we have said it. hahahaha But there are SO many projects and front ends and rules and communities and guidelines.... we figured, you know what? Let's just share, and then get into doing what we do. When people come, we will be there for them! :)

And I'm THRILLED that you tried it out. and even MORE thrilled that you enjoyed it!

We are still babies. (probably because we are pretty satisfied with growing as slowly as it takes to grow genuinely, without hype, without promising the world, without the dance and song.. haha) It's in my nature to try to get people excited about a project, so this felt very very different to NOT. hahaha But it's been a very strong move that requires patience and confidence - and I'm super thankful that @penderis encouraged me from the beginning to just take it slower than usual, and be quieter than usual. That has translated into allowing us to grow at just the right speed and build our team tEEm at a pace that has fit the growth of the project!

ok answers to your questions.

  1. Yes, if you make top 5 in the posts, you get EXTRA dreem tokens. But you get DREEM tokens every day by curating well also!

  2. Curating well? Mm hmmm. Can't just jump on and click "accept" 5 times without really reading the post. There is a tEEm called the Guild (part of our staff) that reads and manually evaluates the posts everyday. As individuals, they evaluate daily posts in curation, to see whether it hits the level of quality that DreemPort stands by. Then - as a group, their scores are averaged and held as the final say. (Majority rules) If the public curators (you) come in and ALIGN with the Guild on your randomly selected posts- you earn Dreem tokens also!

  3. Screeners - yep, another manual process. hehehe There is just simply no way to do what we do by code or AI or a hands-off manner. It is a labor of love! Thankfully - we have screeners that TRULY love what they're doing. And Guild that are SO proud of what this project is about and how they are a part of it! We have ambassadors that enjoy spreading the word. and no one is getting "paid" anything more than the DREEM tokens that we mint! In time, we certainly hope that changes as the project grows! But the reason each person is here - is because we believe in helping, encouraging, sharing, connecting and growing together. It's pretty humbling to see that we have a tEEm of about 30 people (and a few more coming in) that are there for the love of it.

  4. By the way, I mentioned that we mint DREEM tokens. The one thing that is different about how we distribute is that we do not allow people to just come in and buy directly from DreemPort in order to raise money. I've seen how that can destroy a project faster than you can blink. People who want to invest - come in, buy a ton at low prices and then dump later. Which means a LOT of people get hurt. Even if you look at our rich list... there was no teem wallet with millions of tokens, no tokens handed out as gifts for people, no early deals... none of that. Every single person that holds our token has either earned it - or purchased from someone who has earned it. I could easily just mint a bunch and put it in my pocket. LOL But that would destroy everything we stand for. I earn weekly - and then I turn around and buy as much as I can from the people who earn! What am I gonna do with my DREEM? and why should people buy, hold or sell it? hmmm more to come on that in the future :) For now - I'm quite happy to buy it from people who want to sell. and quite happy to see people holding too!

I think this comment is way too long now. hahahahaa and I probably can answer more if people want to ask anything (just tag me in the comment section if anyone is reading this with more questions!) but I agree with you.

It's a pretty easy process to just start, and learn as you go! and it's fun. and it helps people get eyes on their work. hehehe and earn too!

thanks for making me smile HUGE today!! hehehe

This is a post, 😂 😂

you know me hahahahahahahaha

That is very cool. Thank you for commenting. I had this sudden panic when I woke up today because I used the graphic from the site and I didn't ask you first. I realized that would have been the polite and correct thing to do, but I am impulsive as hell. So, I really appreciate both your comments (I read all of both of them) and I hope you are not upset that I used the graphic.

I think it is wise to take it slow and use attraction marketing. Is your project listed on hiveprojects, she asked, being too lazy to check. If not, should it be?

Anyhow, amazing project. Great work!

I'm not sure if it's listed there... and i'm not sure if it should be (she responded, being too uncertain to know) hahahahahaha

and yes - i was FURIOUS that you used that graphic. I was about to call out the guards and have you held up by your pinkies while I threw cotton candy at you - but then i realized... that is really a huge waste of cotton candy. so i reconsidered. 😆

and now i have to workout extra hard today because ... well... hehe see actual footage of me eating cotton candy below... (and no i dont mind at all! I appreciated that it was shared with all the love in your post!)

Thank you. You are the best!

For all my time here and hanging out with the gang at #pypt, I never really knew what Dreemport truly is.

Awesome stuff!

Thank you. Dreemport is awesome and so much easier to use than I had thought, so I wanted to share.

Great post and i'm happy to be slowly stepping back into the world of PYPT (pimp your post thursday's). Signing up to dreemport shall be next!

That is awesome. I definitely encourage you to sign up. The sign up process is so much easier than I had imagined.

@realitavshaluan @deraaa @dreemport Thank you for the reblogs!

I am amazed. I have been hearing about Dreemport, but not in the slightest have a clue what it is. I thought it was some sort of game. Now I know more about it. You read stories and can accept or reject. Then you need to rank it !

I am glad I brought more attention to it. I think the project deserves it!

A lovely, thoughtful, informative, and energetic post @harlowjourney. So pleased you have enjoyed your experience with Dreemport. I love being a part of the family here. I hope more people find joy and connection in the Dreemport community. It's my favourite community on Hive/Discord, and is led by one of the very best in @dreemsteem

Thank you for the comment and for stopping by. I am excited to be part of this project!

To be honest @dreemport it's really helpful not only to me but to many people, I just joined it new and I am already seeing the results thanks @dreemsteem reading via@dreemport

Yeah, Dreemport is a really nice and welcoming place to share your work and mingle with different people both on Hive and other sites.

Well written dear.

An interesting post and an interesting project. Thank you for sharing this @harlowjourney ...another thing to look at in the big wide world of Hive. Looks to have good value.

I said hell to the yeah homie

I'm reading this while also listening to/watching the replay of the last week's PYPT. It hasn't yet worked in my schedule to attend live but hoping to do so this week.

I have yet to do it, but that is more due to my own ongoing issues. I think it would be awesome!

You really said it all...
At first, I was confused of where I could get quality posts from when I joined hive because some of the post from the communities "aren't that nice"
With @dreemport , I have been getting wonderful posts to read and guess what, reading these posts gives me ideas on how I can improve my own writings
Nice reading from you

Thank you. As soon as I tried it, I wanted to tell people because I know people use it, but not many people talk about it.

Thanks for sharing

This tells all I couldn't to some people. Funny enough, I did think it was an extension. Hehe. I'll go curate Now...

Thank you. I appreciate that a lot.

Excellent summation @harlowjourney, couple of things:
we reject pictures with very little text to explain them, it's all about the creative writing, that it's original and clean with enough content, and also
the time is 12 EST on Thursday.
This post is a good encouraging post that really portrays the simplicity, everything on here is super simple and super quick to operate.
Post was obtained in PYPT in the Dreemport Discord server.

It is a great thing to be a dreemer!
I see that people have commented on virtually everything!
I have just completed the six week challenge and it was fantastic, meeting so many great new writers!

Grateful for your write up, babe. This cleared up some important things for me that I had not yet understood. And... it confirms that it's still too much for me. Between all the things on Hive, plus the new job with kids (Was it you who said, "sounds like hell?" Oofft. Feels that way some shifts!), plus more new clients, I am overwhelmed full.

That is perfectly valid and understandable. That being said, if you ever have a day when you have time to try it, it is fairly fast to set up. Then, thereis no obligation to curate every day; only when you want to or when you submit something.

I might have said it sounds like hell. Ha ha. I do enjoy individual children (and teenagers), but in packs... scary. I admire your stamina!

Offt. Bless. Still feeling it now.

Hello @harlowjourney. So happy to hear you had a pleasant experience with Dreemport. I too have have good vibes while being involved with the project. I too was hesitant to get involved. Even now, I don't have a huge amount of time to devote to it daily. But when I do, it's always a pleasure to engage with others submitting their works. It's a great idea, and I wish it all the success for the future.

Thanks for sharing your experience with Dreemport.

Read thorugh @dreemport

Thank you. I agree. I don't know whether I can do it daily, but I will probably be making it part of my routine now.

that's one of the great things too...

as @justclickindiva mentioned... she (and others!) don't always have time for it daily ...

but it doesn't require you to do it daily! we love seeing when old friends drop by!

so whenever you want to....come! 💕

and be sure to drop your post in there too.... because it's so.much more.fun for our readers to get varied posts from different authors!

Hello. Thanks for the kind words.

While there is no “upvoting” or “downvoting” directly on Dreemport.

I suppose it's best to bestow guidelines through comment power, accepting or rejecting means the criteria for quality are fulfilled. Our captain Tiger lily along with the Dreemie family saw this dreem and now it's having a wide network of some amazing people.

I love that about it also. ❤

Glad to see you decided to give DreemPort a try. Great writeup on how you found the experience. It's great to see the perspective of new user.

The posts have gone through a process before you get to see them. Yes, there are people doing the process, it's not automated. You can reject a post if you consider it to be spam or discover that plagiarism has slipped through the process. The screeners and curation guild are pretty diligent but they are people.

The comment on posts about finding posts through DreemPort is a convention and you're welcome to take part.

You may make it into PYPT one of these fine Thursdays at Noon Eastern time. I think you may have a post or two available to share.

I keep coming dangerously close to coming to PYPT. I think it is a great idea. I am just such a mess right now. I try not to post about it all the time because, "Harlow is depressed" might be okay for a post or two now and again, but it doesn't make the most interesting ongoing reading I think.

Challenging myself to write something every day for HiveBloPoMo has made me feel... not better, but at least a bit more productive.

Thank you for your comment and, well, for everything, of course.

You've said it all. You gave a nice account of DreemPort. I've been a part of it for so long and I enjoy every part of it.

For public curators (users of DreemPort), they can use the site on Mondays to Fridays. Yeah, we want everyone to take a break and enjoy their weekend. Hehe.

PYPT is also buzzing. You know, today is one of those PYPT days.

Nice reading from you

There, now you have a pair on your post 😂.

Been using dreemport for a while, and it's really effective. I usually get a lot of interactions on posts I share to dreemport.

!PIZZA !1UP

Ha ha. Those eyeballs are very realistic. Thank you.

Firs toff, you really have summed it all very nicely. DreemPort is place to see many more stories, on many platforms and also a place for your OWN stories to be seen many more times. We have bags and bags of eyeballs for placing on... wait... no. Never mind... kidding. (Am I, though?)

You have very nicely described the process of Members on DreemPort. As you guessed, there is a lot more to DreemPort, including more levels of user. Some members spend time screening. They are the legion of members who read each post and decide if it meets our community standards. (No violence, no overt sex, and a few other standards. It's not that we oppose them (I write some naughty stuff myself) it's that, for DreemPort, we chose a very family friendly approach.) We have people who check for plagiarism, for copyright infringement, and for quality. We have a league who do something similar to users, and also accept/reject and then rank their random 5, too! the goal is to get a wide set of views (more eyeballs? more ?) and have some sort of community consensus. That way, there's some standard for users to compare to.

Mind you, all that takes place BEHIND the scenes, and frankly, the biggest thing the user should be excite about, it getting more eyeballs on their stories. (Seriously, we're gonna need more bags of ...)

it's Hive. It's Medium. It's Blurt, or Read.Cash, or anywhere, really. The goal is to help connect content authors (that's who we, the staff are) with more viewers and readers. That's it in a nutshell! AND you explained it all so well!

Ha ha. You made me laugh out loud, and clarified several things also.

First of all, let me welcome you to our beloved platform @dreemport .

It is better late than never, and belueve me you are not very late to the platform.

Now let me clarify you something... the quality assurance process is not a garbage. We have a deligent and hardworking teem that perform this task.

Secondly, the acceptance and rejection process isn't that subjective. We have some objective standards. If a post is not a spam, you are supposed to accept it. No matter how much you disagreed with the author. Show your liking and disliking in the ranking.

We accept or reject a post on the basis of written content. Will the post stand for itself and makes sense if the all the media are removed. If so, accept it. Otherwise, reject.

Tagging dreemport is not mandatory. We just do it to make people kbow who we are. And don't worry we have a deligent teem to handle this nuisance.

Thanks for sharing your experience with us. Have a great journey 👍

Thank you for the clarification.

!PIZZA

You are most welcome

oh - and one more thing hahaha

yeah they usually write "saw this through DreemPort" or something like that.

and I get a million tags - and I love it!!! hahaha

and they were not told to do that. It started off I think with a few of us saying it would be cool to see that - and then without being told, the whole group started to do it! and I think since most dreemers love seeing the extra comments on their own posts and notice that they are coming from DreemPort - they just return the favor? hahaha not sure! but i love seeing dreemers everywhere!

and last week we had a finale of our 6 week challenge - and the dreemers had teems where they all created banners and went nuts encouraging each other.. it was hilariously fun - and again, no one told them to create banners... they just got creative and had a blast. I think that's what i love about our project the most. It's genuine and natural and I really love the connection they feel with each other!

(ok this won't be another huge comment hahaha)

It is very cool that it happened organically like that. (Have you ever noticed how careful you have to be when writing or pronouncing "organically" or "organic"? Maybe it's just me, but I have made mistakes, even when tutoring organic chemistry. The key is not to alter your facial expression. Teenagers assume you don't know what the other word means and they giggle, but you can move on.) My point was that it is cool that people are so loyal to the project that it has almost developed an internal subculture. I love that!

orgasmic?!!
