Wil Hamas Attempt Terrorism in the United States and Are Civil Liberties at Risk?

According to a memorandum obtained by the Daily Caller, the San Diego Field Office Intelligence Division of Customs and Border Protection assessed that some individuals reacting to the conflict between Israel and Hamas may attempt to enter the United States by the Southern border.

The content of the memorandum seems incredibly bizarre - it suggest to look for for military age males with "military gear - weapons, camouflage, and insignia patches".

Does it seem reasonable that individuals significantly motivated to travel from the Middle East to South America, and then cross the border into the United States would be foolishness enough to wear clothing and carry items that would link them to Hamas or other Islamic militia groups? A more prudent assumption would be Hamas or similarly members of a paramilitary group are highly trained, and will take every precaution to avoid detection.

It seems likely that Hamas or other Islamic paramilitary groups will try to commit terrorism within the United States. It is also probable that personnel sympathetic to their efforts are already present within the United States. Attempted terrorism seems almost certain.

The content of the memorandum - reads like security theater, to both reassure the American people that the Federal Government is taking action to protect them, but also to build fear as pretext.

**My intuition is that that specter of terrorism will be used as an excuse ** to reduce or limit the civil liberties of Americans. Government in the United States from the Municipal to the Federal level were falling over themselves in the rush to violate Constitutional rights during the pandemic. After 9-11 Congress expanded the security state with incredible rapidity. It is not paranoid to assume the Federal Government will trample the Constitution again - it's almost guaranteed.

At the very least I suspect to see curtailment and censorship on most social media platforms, increased monitoring of conversations - it's not too farfetched to imagine Federal Agents bringing Americans in for questioning - for too vocally objecting to the US involvement in the Israeli-Gaza conflict.

Watch your Congressional Delegations closely and insist that they defend the Constitutionally protected rights and civil liberties off all American Citizens.

Sort:

probably.

Civil liberties.. are not liberties.. they are privileges that can be taken away.
Its unfortunate for us that our government has allowed the displacement of the Palestinian people, and acquiesced to the Zionists for so long.
Its good the "Butcher of Beirut" Netanyahu and others have shown the true color of the most dedicated Zionists.

on the topic of civil libertys/rights.. I really dont respect that wording, I dont think you need to wrap certain words in other words because that just confuses the meaning.

I feel like the world is going to be crazy for a while - there is also some sort of temporary mass psychosis where compassion seems to infuriate people.

Looking at the arguments on Twitter there is no persuasion, no caution - just a rush to destruction.
