What changed?

When you start living, things definitely change. One of the major events and changes in my life has been trying not to isolate myself. I tend to self-isolate and self-criticize but this 90 days, I tried to do it a lot less than usual. As a result gives me the courage and faith that after all, I could still have a place in this world.

Throughout this ninety day challenge, every aspect of my life has gone through a major revamp. One thing that I like is that I am a lot more chatty and extroverted. I wonder if it’s all just because I’ve found a good source of caffeine or my tolerance to people has gone up naturally. Either Way, it’s really good that they’ve improved.

I noticed that I’ve spent years and almost decades trying to dim the lights that I have. I was really afraid of becoming the center of attention as it could attract people with bad vibes 😂. The thing is that is bound to happen but how many of them are actually there than the people that I’ve managed to inspire? I make friends fairly easily and I’ve found friends from all walks of life. The only negative trait of mine is that they all would stay as the-people-I-used-to-know as I also have the habit of self-isolating. I don’t know, I can’t seem to find balance on them. Maybe it’s time I do so.

13 Pounds Gone

As usual, this weekly update has to have the weekly weights in. I am now saying goodbye to 13 pounds that used to be inside my body. I’ve noticed that the food I’ve been eating lately has even been decreasing to the point where I could sustain myself with just 600 calories/day. What made this week extra challenging was that it was the month where I was struggling with cravings, irritability etc.

To consistently lose 2 pounds/week isn’t necessarily easy but it’s better than to never go back to where I was feeling a decade ago, healthier and alive. It’s a mix of consistency and being a little crazy with the routine and the food I eat.

When you consistently log the food you’re eating, overtime you learn the type of food that has high calorie and how much it would take to burn them. Exercise like low intensity cardio wouldn’t burn as much especially when you do it for only 10 minutes. So, knowing how much these cardio burns, you’ll start to really attempt to eat healthier and the food that makes you full.

The thing that I’ve noticed throughout this journey is that it is better to have a consistent meal schedule. When it’s consistent and built like a routine, it’s easier navigating life and hunger. In the past, my meal time was whenever I felt like it. That can be like 2 AM in the morning or 3 AM. These days, I always have it around the same time and never exceed it. If I am still hungry, I would snack and opt for boiled eggs, fruits or more americano.

I’ve reached my 8th week and it feels like forever sometimes. There are certain things that have become natural to me. I also opt for better and healthier food compared to what I used to be eating in the past. More importantly, this week, I’ve found a rhythm again and life is a lot better.

Sleep is the means to an end.

I am no longer young like I used to be. When I was 19, I could simply stay awake for more than 32 hours and I’ll be fine. But these days, I get extremely tired especially when I don’t sleep more than 24 hours. At the same time, the things I do rely so much on my sleep. So, I have to adjust everything and it’s nicer to have some type of schedule than having to do things at a whim. Maybe it’s all the balance that I seek, just some type of consistency in my routine. This is where sleep really plays a role in shaping my routine and how I can stay consistent with my workout as well as all the habits that I am trying to build.

Anyway, see you again next week 😸

Sort:

Hold on? What do you mean about sleep? Meaning you stay up for 24 hours at the time? Or did I misunderstand this? Woah, even with coffee these days I can't do so many hours and remain human. I turn into complete zombie towards the end of my day xD

You didn't misunderstand—I would often stay awake for more than 24 hours without even a wink of sleep! 😅. I used to force myself to sleep after like 32 hours or more. Now, it's a little more natural, I can at least sleep 5-6 hours.

6 hours of sleep is my bare minimum to appear like a person, but even then sometimes I am pretty exhausted. I have not been very healthy in general and my body just needs those extra hours to heal and all that good stuff. I am impressed with people who are highly functioning with less than that.

You go girl! It is awesome you are applying method to create new and healthy habits. This post is making me more fired up to try and do the same.

I love the opening line to this so much :D so charged.

Yeah, but being more open, center-of-attention-y (as I'm sure you know already) can attract some great new people to you. You seem like someone with a strong, smart head on her shoulders, so I'm sure you can sort the wheat from the chaff. ;)

Congratulations on the weight and the improved schedule! It's impressive. Trying to cultivate a more regular eating habit myself, and this is hella inspiring. Good luck going forward!

, so I'm sure you can sort the wheat from the chaff. ;)

I am not always good at this but I've learned my lesson 😅 and because the nature of the people that I used to hangout with, it was always walking on eggshells type of situation. Now, it's like so what? I don't care anymore 😂 and I am going to say what needs to be said.

I hope you can finally eat regularly, it can be challenging but when you truly want it, you'll always find the way. This video is what resonates with things I've been doing lately. It's crazy how she's only 25 and has her shit figured out and solid advice too 😆

Hey, I really love that (still watching, but what I've heard so far resonates a great deal). It's kinda the place I'm at rn too. What you practice is your reality. There's a lot of really simple stuff that can create a better life but somehow we get lost in the details. Weird. How is human-ing so tricky and anxiety-inducing?
Really love it. Thank you :)

Now, it's like so what? I don't care anymore 😂 and I am going to say what needs to be said.

Amen.

congratulations for your self-growth; we, hivers, are proud of you. I'm also in the process of treating myself better in any way and I must say, it's not easy at all

I hope you continue to strive to be the better version of yourself 😊

First, I was really attracted to those drawings in your book—really creative. Right now, personally, I am trying to reduce stomach fat. So I am dieting and also doing some stomach exercise to get rid of my pot belly. I feel I am too young to be having that, which I feel is caused by taking too many carbonated drinks and late night eating.

Your post was shared by @olujay during the Hive Learners Monday Hangout. I hope you get to join us next Monday at 5pm GMT+1.

I was checking out the link and i wondered if you guys have recording for us who couldn't attend it. I'd be happy to join next Monday and finger crossed I'd remember what day/date it is 😄

I honestly believe eating time won't affect us much but as long as the calories in is less than the calories out, you should be fine 😄. But I get it, there are others who think late night eating is the culprit. The thing is, I still do those late night snacks too and eat close to my bed some day.

oh yeah, I used to make a recording of the whole meeting, but I stopped because it wasn't convenient again with OBS, and lazy me, did not make a move to using another recording software.

A friend of mine who is a nutritionist told me that late night eating has an effect, especially when I go to bed after eating heavy food. She said when one goes to bed, the body does not produce enough insulin to break down food as much as it does while one is still awake and agile. So what the body does is store the food as fat in the stomach. And yeah, the calories intake too. I didn't use to exercise as much as I should.

Eating snacks before going to bed may not have effect on the body, which I see as a light food. So what I do here is that when it is past 9pm here and I have not eaten anything. I make sure I eat something really light and not much.

I suggest to check this one out guys www.minepi.com/zdigital huge airdrops. Going live this early 2025.

For i will rather gain weight, looking for an appetizer though to do the work, sleep however alone can make one gain weight , but am not cut out on that as I've got alot of project on my neck,

I can see how needing extra snacks could make someone gain weight. But yeah calorie in < calorie out.

But what kinda snacks can increase weight gain
