MY CASSAVA HARVEST AND PROCESSING

in #hive-114308last month

It another Good day from here, am glad to share with you all another area of my farming experience that has yielded so much fruit, its been really rewarding to see the very little effort that was invested yielding so much amassing result that is mind blowing.
Like a joke after my red pepper experience, I decided to explore many other area of agricultural practices and am glad to return with testimony that I know will encourage another young fellow on the hive platform and to anyone who come across this article. I did this planting last year during the late planting season, I was not really expecting much but then I had to try something new.

When I came here I noticed that cassava plantation is done differently from the location that where I came from, they dike the ground to bury the cassava stem, were as at the location where I came from, mounts are being molded before the planting is done. So I decided to make mounts like we experience in my previous station, As God will have it, the result is very encouraging and am ready to do more in the coming season.

The Harvesting Process:

I went to the farm land with a few of my friend and an elderly woman who have been a practicing farmer in the past 35 years, She actually fell in love with me and decided to manage the farm for me, She has done a great job, already, with hands we uprooted the stem and with our machete, we detached the tubers from the stem.

After we were done with the space to be harvested, we gathered them together and with bags carried them in small quantities from the farm land to the location where we will process the cassava.

The Processing Proper.

Within this location, we don’t have the processing mill that can help in the finishing process of the farm produce, so we had to manually pile the cassava with our hands, put them in a big basin and with water watch them clean and then take it to a grinding machine, were it was grinded, then we also took it to the location where we had to pressed the water out to make it dry for frying.

The end point of our processing was Garry, we had a full 20 litter pail and a basin of it, am so glad that my little effort could yield such a great result.
Now am ready to fully and effectively engage the next planting season, having seen the result of the previous planting season.
it may interest you that as low as 10 dollar was invested into the farming process but it has yielded 120 dollars in return, why will i not go for more this time around.
During this process i was able to identify a problem within this area that needs to be solved and i am working towards doing so, with the help of my friends.

My plans To Solve the Identified Problem :

I have noticed that the farmers within this location, are used to farming and selling the goods after harvest, a few of them only process it for the home consumption, as a result they don’t have a processing mile that can handle the process effectively, so I am trusting God to be able to solve a problem by setting up a mini milling unit were this operations can be effectively handled, I am also reaching out to a few friends that can help make this project a success, am also trusting that it will be a huge success if you can also show some love, I believe the community will greatly benefit from the project in view. I promise to give effective update of the project, and that every invested resources will count and you will be glad you supported this project.

Thanks for having me your friend @emylight, enjoying a new dimension of #homesteading, #hivegarden and #agriculturalmindset experience, thanks for your undying support. Bless you, remember your faith counts.
