Stupid muscles, nerves, whatever the hell it is woke me at 1:45am to pain that didn't relinquish until the muscle relaxer kicked in and I was back asleep before 3am. I was popped awake at 5:30 thanks to my asinine body and gave in and got up. PDC was on so I had that on while I did my morning post.
Man Utd produced another miracle win but they are still middling the table and will need some major ass kicks to do anything near respectable this season.
Only .07" of rain in the gauge despite the overnight weather. We did get a constant drizzle for the morning which made everything dripping.
I noticed one of our maples still had leaves on it... even leaves with real color still. This is DESPITE the 20F temps... There is another in the creek towards the tunnel that is even greener than this one. Every single other maple on the farm is devoid of leaves.
Tossed a cover board over the wood stack to deflect a bit of the moisture that will fall on it this winter.
Went for a hike up the hill to go check out the next trees that I will be taking down. The stand is all bent and wonky and weirdly dense on top so they will all come down, get limbed and bucked, then the rounds trundled down the hill.
The wood has to get split if we want to burn it in the fireplace and since no one else is I have to get on it. Over the afternoon I managed to get all the lodgepole rounds split.
Watched some of the PDC matches in the afternoon on breaks from splitting.
It's crazy how the lodgepole splits. It full on explodes when hit with the maul. It is dried and cracked and split such that I think it is holding a lot of stored contracted energy that is released when the wood is split. It sounds like a .22 going off with some of the splits.
Eventually the boys found their way outside and began helping, after I had split the big rounds...
For our viewing pleasure we had Office Space on and damnit Mike Judge is a genius. Such a great flick and the boys both love it.
No soaking thanks to my stupid skin and face muscles.
Another shit night of pain, woke at 3am to my jaw on fire and it's taking forever to mellow out. Boys are off for the day, I have no desire to take advantage of any of the Veteran's day freebies as it all is rather annoying the one day a year... Rain off and on all day but I plan to put on my rain gear and go drop a couple more trees on the hillside if my pain level lowers. Will have to sharpen a chin if I do. Who knows how far I will get in the process but I would love to have the rounds stacked between the trees by the end of the day. Oh and Starlink is FINALLY supposed to deliver so we will have real internet again this morning.
