Woke to the rain fall yesterday morning before dawn. It was not much but it did a wonderful job of washing the dust off everything and cleaning the air a bit. The cool air held for much of the morning.
PDC world series finals is on and I got to see a bunch of the matches over the morning.
Went out to harvest and marked a pair of summer squash I will let get gigantism for seeds.
The cucumbers have peaked for sure and are on the slow decline to being done, still producing though. The tomatoes are gradually giving some color. I probably should kill the water to the row so they force the ripening.
The dumb beetles get stuck in a 2/3 full bucket of gravel and desiccate to death. There is well more than enough room for them to fly out of it but nope, they just dry out and die.
Barney play Littler and put up a good fight but Luke got him in the end.
After watching Barney lose I hooked up the trailer and headed up to the upper garden to finish the removal. First thing was to load the plastic into the trailer to pile everything else atop.
All the staples got removed from the posts and the 4 sections of fence rolled up.
I cut the irrigation lines loose and rolled each by the trailer.
As I emptied the weight pots of soil I found this ootheca, a praying mantis egg sack, on one pot. I set it aside so I can have it in the garden for next year. I love those wild ass aliens.
All the rocks tossed to the woods, branches tossed, and every bit of garbage I could find all got loaded up and I headed down the hill to the farm.
The fence got dropped by the brooder then the poles and irrigation by the tool shed before I parked the trailer. Today I have to pull the plastic and flake then fold it so it doesn't take up so much space.
Winds were looking good so I got my gear together and headed north to try Inkler's. I pulled into the lz to see the flag blowing exactly opposite of what we wanted...
Things looked like they should work but the storms to the north had an outflow of air heading to the warm in the south and so we got a strong north wind.
It was a chance to try out my scooter though. It worked "okay". The hills are a bit too steep for the 11 tooth sprocket so when I get the 9 tooth it should totally kick in the low end torque for hill climbing. The proof of concept is solid though.
I hiked up the rest of the hill and met Chris and Kim on top where we sat and glared at the shit wind.
Eventually we called it and headed down. I bombed down the road on the scooter and it did great the whole way down until I got right by the bottom and the controller box underneath slammed into a rock and I went straight over the handlebars. I haven't endoed a bike in YEARS and thanks to my stupid thinner skin I was a bloody mess. I bent the motor bracket a bit in the process but like I said, it's all proof of concept and I want to make most of the build a lot stronger.
Back home UFC 306 was on and they had it in the Sphere in Vegas which was pretty wild. Super cinematic the whole time and it made laugh how high Rogan was, he kept sounding like a kid ooohing and aaahing at the pretty lights.
We went out to soak earlier as I wanted to see the last 3 fights. My skin was not happy with me with all the scrapes and wounds.
@stryeyz now understands how I can see who is likely to win on the walk in. The eyes are the gateway to the soul. Really wish Ortega would have won, badass Valentina rewon the belt, and I was SUPER HAPPY to watch O'malley lose.
It was after 9pm when my waders arrived and after I tried them on the boys did and J nearly can hide inside them. R disappears fully. The point is to take my fly rod and waders and paraglider and scooter so I can go fish in the morning then fly mid day.
Have the harvests to get to first thing, PDC final day is on, Hawks play mid morning, the plastic will get flaked and folded, sunflowers cut down, then this afternoon we will be going to the fair and then the destruction derby most likely.
