It was cloudy when I got up yesterday but it didn't take too long for the storm front to hit. The forecast was for rain through mid day and it was rather accurate. The first days of this November are starting out just like 2022 as judged by my weather records.
We are well ahead of normal now and the look is that this could continue into and through winter. I wont be sad in the least if we get TROUNCED with snow this year.
Took the boys to school and caught this cool view of the mist and fog around the farm back by the hills.
The storm plowed into the region rather fast and the front side was a bit dispersed but we had some solid downpours.
R had to see the dentist for his swollen face and it looks like the tooth with a filling is the problem. He is scheduled for removal next week after the swelling has gone down enough.
We got out of the dentist and I dropped @stryeyz back off at work before blazing back north to drop R at school again. I noticed while in the dentist that is had started to DUMP outside and it wasn't until we were a few miles from home I checked the doppler.
HOLY DOWNPOUR! The storm hit us like a train and the wall of water that fell from the sky was intense. The highway was lowing with water and I felt the tires of my truck try to hydroplane a few times... puckering but still a bit thrilling.
It was about 1pm when the main blast of the storm worked past us and we had over half an inch of rain again.
The battery packs and wire leads arrived so I got one setup and was able to get J's dino costume working.
They got home from school right before another downpour hit and J instantly was in the costume trying it out. We found that it's best to use the wall wart to power the fan to get the costume inflated then use the battery pack to keep it full. Less drain on the batteries that way.
It's absurd how often I am putting that 3rd dart ABOVE the wire.... GO TO YOUR HOME!!! YOU BELONG IN THE TRIPLE!
Eventually the clouds began to part and we got little tiny glimpses of the sun, right as it was setting...
In the first 4 days of the month we have 2.22" of rain so far.
My afternoon was spent trying to clean in the house. The corn from this year had dried on the cobs so I pulled them out of the bag and indian burn twisted the kernels all off. I got just shy of 5 pounds when done. I plan on planting a bunch next year but am not sure exactly where yet. Would be good to use for corn meal if I were to grow enough.
The pantry tends toward chaos regularly, it seems far more effected by entropy than other parts of the house. Therefore it requires a more regular cleaning/organizing to bring the entropy back down to a more manageable level. Two of the variables just happen to be bipedal and piss poor at cleaning after themselves....
WE FINALLY HEARD FROM STARLINK! Well, FUCK! They called as we were in the hot tub and I refused the call not knowing the number at 8:30pm. Then get the email from them that they have NO INBOUND lines only outbound phone lines. At least I got the email response sent and hopefully today will hear something back.
The storms are gone and we begin the deep freezes. Today I will get the boys to school, wash my clothes, water the house plants in the studio after getting SoilMoist crystals added to the soil so I don't have to water as often, will try the mesh node with the panel, and continue cleaning and organizing around the house.
