It was DUMPING yesterday morning when I woke and it kept the sky flood up until noon. We were right in the crosshairs for the backside of the storm and at 7am I emptied .95" from the gauge. By noon there was another half inch. The storm gave us 1.75" of rain in about 36 hours.
The farm was drenched as were the birds and animals.
As the storm's backside moved over the farm we loaded up and headed to town. We stopped to get a gift for the birthday party R goes to today before heading to eat.
Lilac Lanes bowling alley is a good sized place. They have the cafe on one end, the lanes in the middle, then the bar/casino on the other end. We went to the cafe as they still had breakfast available. The chicken and waffles were rather tasty as I figured they would given the cook had a southern accent.
We got a lane for an hour after we were done eating and we were ohh so close to finishing 2 full games in that time. My first was 118 and I didn't get to roll my last frame but I had 109.
Back on the farm it was time to get the last garlic planted. The boys came out to help and after I got the row laid out and holes punched they went along and planted Lorz Italian.
Then I punched the holes for the other 2 varieties and got the cloves all in the holes. With these in the ground it put me at 1011 cloves in the ground. Last year I had 213 in the ground...
The last thing to do was to cover over the rows with pine needles. I had just barely enough left to cover but they should all be just fine for the winter.
Today I have to make the signage for the 3 and get them installed.
And here is my map. This planting is going to catapult me into next year when I will likely at least double this planting since I will be saving my own seed heads.
Last year I planted 59 Inchelium, saved 1 lb for planting which was 150 cloves this year. The northern White though was 51 last year and only 54 this year since there are fewer cloves per head. I have my spreadsheet built so I know how much of each to save for the next season.
Texted with my buddy and found out he has gone through SERIOUS shit the past months. This world is just fucked when people are made criminals for a medical condition. Rather concerning learning this but there is only so much I can do from halfway across the country.
The Kraken played and got beat, not terribly but still lost.
I'm so damned close. That wire just always seems to be in the way.
With us burning fires in the fireplace now I HAD to move the potatoes down stairs to the cool and dark. It too numerous trips down the stairs to the basement but they are all staked on the pallet.
Nicely it really opened up the living room floor a lot. Now we have a spot for the Christmas tree to go next month.
Was later when we headed out to soak but then we changed the clocks and it suddenly wasn't as late...
I of course woke at 4am this morning instead of the normal 5am.... Fuckin time change idiocy. Just more proof of the uselessness of government.
We are rainless today thankfully, still no Starlink contact of ANY kind, I finally get the solar panel for my #meshtastic node, I will bury the power wire for the S19 in hopes it eventually arrives and before the ground freezes in the next week or so, Man Utd play, Seahawks play, I have LiPo packs to build, and clean up to finish around the farm.
