Swollen, Rain Day Deluge, Garlic Arrived, LiPo Pack Build, First Fireplace Fire, Fire Pit, Grilling - Friday

Yesterday morning R woke up and walked out to me in the living room complaining about his face hurting. Well of course it did his cheek was swollen like he had a golf ball in his mouth. That meant a trip to town to the urgent care to get a round of antibiotics and then possibly a tooth removal on Monday. At least the poor kid wasn't in too much pain during the day, but poor @stryeyz had to deal with the insurance which is getting worse and worse as time goes on.

When I had gotten up a few hours earlier I checked the doppler and saw the mass of weather that was to be hitting us the entire day. There was .22" in the rain gauge at 7am.

The roof extension is working like a charm. It is keeping the splashes off the concrete and makes it much nicer to stand during the weather.

We have a nice pile of mushrooms growing next to the chicken coop. These are edible but they are growing out of the chicken shit so....

FINALLY I got my garlic in. The Silver White is the change up for the Nootka Rose that was holding up the order.

And FINALLY got a response from Kaboomracks ceo that my S19 is back ordered. No clue why no one there could send a quick email telling me that....

@stryeyz and R were in town for a while as she had to stop at her work before coming home. I got time to finish building my first lipo pack. I found wires in the shed, cut them to length, then soldered them to the tin leads then to the BMS.

This one just got an electrical tape wrapper but it works to hold the BMS in place and I also put a sheet of nomex on either side to cover the ends.

I now have a nice 12 volt 2 ah battery that I am going to copy and make at least 3 more since have that many BMS.

Noon and the deluge just kept on pounding down. It was a really steady and constant rain and I kept myself inside much of the day.

Once I cleaned up from the LiPo pack I pulled the garlic out and began to separate them. I ended up with over 200 cloves which will put me at 1011 that will be planted. The hard part now is finding a gap in the rain which I can get them planted.

Finally home from town @stryeyz was feeling chilly so I got some wood in and started the first fire for the year in the fireplace. Now that I have the new combustor installed the thing burns WAY WAY WAY better than before. It was too good in fact as the day went on, I forget just how warm the thing gets the house.

Near 5pm I went out in the downpour of rain and got a fire going in the pit for grilling dinner. I made sure to use a few pieces of pitchy wood to get it burning good and hot but I still had to keep an eye on it as the rain tried to put it out a couple times.

Super happy with the wood cover and how well it protects everything. The drip edge on the front is well away from the wood stacked inside but the top needs some help. The old pool cover has a lot of holes in it so I will end up stapling a liner to the underside of the roof to sheet water to the back.

It's like we have a target on the farm or something, the storm has been aimed straight at us.

The rain tried to kill the fire but I was watching and kept adding to bolster the flames.

It still took more work to keep it going enough until I grilled our steaks.

We headed out to soak while it was raining still. I got a shorter soak as my stupid skin is still being bitchy.

It's still raining this morning and I will see shortly how much is in the gauge. My solar panel arrives for the #Meshtastic node, still no help from Starlink on our dead antenna, I think we are going bowling today, and this afternoon looks like the rain may stop so I can get the garlic planted.

I just love the scene of your environment, the farm is so big, it must have taken years for you to accomplish something this big and better

It has been a labor of love for sure. It especially takes me time since I do all the work by myself.

And am impress how far you've gone just wish i can get something in mind and work towards it
