Yesterday morning after it got light the storm moved in and began to dump snow. Well, it began to dump snow to the south of us but it was just a light snow on the farm to begin with. This was the doppler as the front moved in from the southwest.
As I walked out of the house to take the boys to school the first tiny flakes began to fall. It was constant and light for the next couple hours until I had to go to my chiro appointment. Instead of an adjustment after my neck decompression I got a massage which seemed to do a lot of good for my neck and jaw.
I walked into my appointment with about half an inch of snow on the parking lot but when I walked out an hour later there was 2 inches on the ground and the roads were SLICK as teflon. I began to drive out of the parking lot of the chiro and it slopes down to the highway, I was going slow and in 4 wheel drive and I still almost slid out into the roadway. Thankfully the only car coming got in the other lane and I was able to bust out into the lane. I headed to Safeway and when I came out it was a white winter wonderland.
This was the highway 5 miles south of the farm, nasty. I was still able to go 70 while everyone else puttered along in the slow lane though since the highway is straight as an arrow. The crazy part to me was 2 miles later the snow began to lighten on the road and by the time I came down the hill to our turn the highway was just wet and it was snowing lightly.
I got home to see half an inch of snow on the measuring board by my rain gauge. The winds were blowing out of the northeast so the snow was falling sideways much of the day but despite the day of snow we only got at most 3/4 of an inch in total.
It came down pretty hard for short stints as the back side of the storm passed. There were wrecks ALL OVER the region and I can see why with how slick the roads were.
I had gotten home in time to catch the PDC Premiere League darts so while it snowed outside I worked around the house. In the end Luke lost in the finals to MVG and there was some crazy legs amongst all the matches. 3 different times the last dart was an inch from being a 9 dart leg. The level that they play at is insane.
I picked the boys up as the snow was finishing and we did only get at most 3/4 of an inch. It wasn't enough for the boys to go play in so they stayed inside. It was their Friday as they get a 4 day weekend for president's day. I spent a bit of time at the board and once warmed up started to get some really nice groupings. This was one of my better sinking them into the 25 bull.
It was the school skate night at the roller rink in North Spokane so @stryeyz took the boys which gave me the evening to myself which I spent watching the Kraken game against Boston. It was a total surprise to have the Kraken end up winning the game 4-1 against the second best team in the league.
I went out to soak as they were on their way home an managed about an hour before my skin started to freak out on me. Seems I have to keep myself on the prednisone for longer as I was trying to feather myself off of it, but nope, my skin is going to shit again.
It's 20F this morning as the clouds all moved off and got a clear night. Today should be clear but cold so our snow won't be melting just yet. The boys are off school today, I have to deal with my shitty skin and stupid painful jaw, I will get the trailer hooked up this afternoon for a grain run tomorrow morning, then R has a bday party to go to in the evening so I will figure out what I am doing for dinner then.
