Hello Everyone!
Long days, Short sleeps, A chilly night outdoors, Hunkering down, Stove setup thoughts & Onward with relief efforts!
Alright, I am running a bit late with my writing routine... but still close enough that it should not push my posting time back too late into the evening. I think that I finally figured out that by the time I have making these entries lately... I have already been awake for a good fifteen hours of the day.
It is a wonder that I can stay on track as I have been... considering that for some odd reason I have only been able to sleep three to four hours at a time each day... before waking and being very much wide awake from there on out. The days have passed in a blur and often times I wonder if it is the coffee keeping me going... or sheer determination.
At least the chilly weather has not been too awful... and although it stayed just below freezing (with more strong winds) I yet again stayed cozy enough in the tent. Ever since moving my PC into it (so that I could write) I have noticed that just it running keeps one side of the tent warm enough that I never feel cold on either side of the bed.
Anyways, today was not super productive or anything... and although I considered going mushroom hiking I was all too warm hunkering down indoors. Since the terrain outside is all slippery... from all the recent rains to boot... I have already slipped around while walking too much and don't want to take unnecessary risks. Heck, in some places I really am just going to have to be more careful because I have tweaked my back a few times just walking to the dog yard.
In other news, I am still resisting the idea of bringing one of my cook stoves into the tent... because I should not be wasting all that heat when I have to boil the rainwater so often. The tent also loses a lot of heat every time that I have to go outdoors... and tend to the stove out there... so there is that factor to consider because whoa this thing can lose all its heat fast when the wind is gusting.
Overall, I am still hanging in there and per usual the long slog each day of doing relief efforts for folks inside the WNC DZ... takes up the bulk of my attention. If there was ever a scenario where folks could (and have) let their homesteading skills shine... that would be (and is) the one to do it in. For the last fifty-six odd days it has been an around the clock tasks but is so worth it.
Well, this entry is going to be short one and yup I hope that everyone is doing well! Ta ta for now.
