Diagnosing The System: Healthcare Service Palava

in #hive-11536810 hours ago

Take a moment to look at the first picture on this post, I was surprised to have found one like it. It shows the relationship between Healthcare services and sick citizens in my country, Nigeria from what I've studied, or maybe it's some part.

I haven't travelled to every part of my country, neither have I been sick too regularly to explore all the health centres in my country or even the communities I find myself at certain points in time. But from a general viewpoint, from others experiences and from my very few experiences, there is a lot to say in diagonising the healthcare system and then of course to suggest solutions.

It's too bad that the problems are obvious but the Government and health care workers are doing nothing to sort the issue out. There are many problems in the health care department of my country and a few I'll not fail to share whenever I have to talk about it are what I'll share now. Someone said I won't understand why it's like that until I start working as a healthcare giver.

One thing I believe is, I'll still find it a problem that should be looked into even if I become a healthcare giver. It's crazy how people die from healthcare negligence or even mistakes than what could have actually killed them, their illnesses. The health need of the country is growing and needs urgent strategic intervention, I'll share my review alongside possible solutions.

Inadequate health care financing is a big problem, I read somewhere that Nigeria's yearly budget allocation for health care doesn't amount to more than 5 dollars per person per year and I think that's crazy. It kinda shows a very high lack of interest of the citizens by the Government which shouldn't be. It's obvious that not all citizens can afford health care services.

The Government have a responsibility to provide free or Government paid services for more poor sick citizens. Another problem to tackle in Nigeria is the Inaccessibility of quality healthcare.

Right now, I'm living in a community that people have to travel a far distance to get a supposed quality health care service. Healthcare centres should be found in close proximity to where there are a lot of people living there, I think this is also the responsibility of Government or rich citizens who care to help out. Having a reliable place to run to for health help needs to be provided.

Low salary or payments to health workers has caused more problems. Anyone would tend to do their job haphazardly or emigrate for a better opportunity in other country if not well paid even if it's what they usually enjoy doing. I've seen a nurse act very rude to a patient just because she was denied of some part of her salary for some reasons known by the owners of the hospital.

While people go to health centres to get treated and be whole again, there are a lot of problems they could meet there that may end their lives or in the least, make their problems worse. The Government has so much to do for the increasing need for better Healthcare in my country, Nigeria.

I'll love to invite @deborah-yelemu and @treasuree to check this contest out.

Low salary is heavily disturbing the system in Nigeria my country

Sometimes, doctor go on strike for months this is sad

Good job 👍👍

Yeah, it's a serious problem 🥲

5 dollars per year? herh, this people are too greedy. In normal sense how does 5 dollars cater for someone who is suffering from malaria? Is this not clear incompetence? You'll also think if they change the person things will be better but it'll be the same and it's sad.

Now where do we go from here? Then we add the loose salary which they pay health workers which will still need them to do other businesses to live up to the standards of their life. So if you are paying them this little how do they take the work seriously then.

You can imagine the level of incompetence in the healthcare system here.

There's hardly anyone who would do their job passionately with low pays 🥲
