One of the sports branches at the 21st National Sports Week (PON) in Aceh and North Sumatra is the aero sport paramotor held on the runway of Sultan Malikussaleh Airport, North Aceh, Indonesia.
The competition became an interesting spectacle for the community and its surroundings. This branch was the first to be competed in North Aceh, even Aceh. Various interesting and dangerous incidents went viral on various social media platforms. One of the things that became a thrilling spectacle was when the athletes landed incorrectly or could not control the paramotor to land at the predetermined coordinate point.
According to the committee, one of the causes was bad weather so that the paramotor was flown away from the coordinate point. One athlete even crossed electrical cables which were very life-threatening. Residents who witnessed the incident screamed hysterically because they were worried that the athlete would touch the electrical cable. Thankfully, the athlete's leg was not caught on the electrical cable.
Another athlete landed unevenly on the asphalt road, causing his leg to break. These events became memories after the 21st Sports Week ended.
According to the committee, as many as 66 athletes from 17 provinces (in Indonesia there are 34 provinces) participated in the paramotor aero sport. The Chairman of Paramotor Indonesia, Cahyo Alkantana, said that the committee flew several paramotors to check the webpoin navigation.
