Vor ein paar Tagen waren meine Liebste und ich mit unserem Wohnmobil in Mittelhessen unterwegs. Unser Ziel war die Stadt Wetzlar. Wetzlar ist unter anderem für seine lange Tradition in der Optik und Fotografie bekannt. Der Entwicklungschef von Leitz, Oskar Barnack, entwickelte 1913 die erste Kleinbildkamera der Welt, die wegen des Ersten Weltkriegs erst 1925 als Leica I auf den Markt kam. Ein vor der Markteinführung entwickelter Prototyp der Leica wurde am 11. Juni 2022 in Weimar für 14,4 Millionen Euro versteigert und gilt als die teuerste Kamera der Welt. Aber dafür sind wir nicht nach Wetzlar gekommen. Unser Ziel sollte eine kühlere Region sein als hier im Rheintal. Oft planen wir erst im Auto, in welche Richtung wir fahren, so auch bei dieser Tour. Wir schauen uns auch die Wettervorhersage an und entscheiden dann. Ich mag besonders Flüsse, wie hier die Lahn, und alte Häuser. Ich bin fasziniert von alter Architektur. So landen wir oft in einer historischen Altstadt.

Bei unserem Spaziergang in Wetzlar kamen wir durch das Rosengärtchen mit einen alten Friedhof aus den Jahren 1757 -1881. Wetzlar war von 1689 bis 1806 eine Reichsstadt. Hier befand sich der letzte Sitz des höchsten Gerichts des Heiligen Römischen Reiches Deutscher Nation, des Reichskammergerichts. Johann Wolfgang Goethe war von Mai bis September 1772 Praktikant am Reichskammergericht. Weltweit bekannt wurde Wetzlar durch seinen ersten Roman "Die Leiden des jungen Werther". Eine unglückliche Romanze während dieser Zeit lieferte den Stoff dafür.

During our walk in Wetzlar we passed through the Rose Garden, an old cemetery from the years 1757 -1881. Wetzlar was an imperial city from 1689 to 1806. Johann Wolfgang Goethe was a trainee at the Imperial Chamber Court from May to September 1772. Wetzlar became known worldwide through his first novel "The Sorrows of Young Werther". A hapless romance during this time provided the material for this.

... ist ein ausgewiesener Bereich auf einem Parkplatz für 5 Wohnmobile. Längere Wohnmobile, die größer als 750 cm sind, sollten lieber auf einen der anderen Stellplätze ausweichen. Der Platz ist gepflastert und weitgehend eben und liegt unweit der Lahn am Rande der Altstadt. Die Versorgung mit Frischwasser und Strom sowie die Entsorgung von Grauwasser und Chemietoilette sind in der Stellplatzgebühr von 8 Euro enthalten. Die Bezahlung erfolgt bei der Ankunft am Parkscheinautomaten. Die Stadt bietet einige kulturelle Veranstaltungen in der Altstadt an, wodurch der Parkplatz sehr belebt und daher laut ist. Es gibt ausgewiesene Rad- und Wanderwege.
