Today is week 32 of my #saturdaysavers club savings. The journey really drags on, which leads to some thoughts. About numbers, about distance, and about the possibilities within Hive.
I always liked small numbers and complicated calculations. I used to like to spend a few hours on it and daydream. I always liked the number one in my calculations. One dollar, one percent, one year. Pretty if you even compare it to 99 cents, 20% APR or 12 months, no?
So there have been times when dreams and calculations have taken more time than follow-through. Today I decided to throw these beautiful calculations into the AI to dream more, get inspired, and get started on moving forward.
I was curious to see what the amount would be in a year if I had $1 and the ability to make 1% a day, adding that percentage to the original dollar. It's a bit like one of the #saturdaysavers savings plans, where we start saving with 1 cent a day and increase that amount each day.
One dollar, one percent one day, for one year.
Everyone has a dollar. Suppose we have a plan or just a magic button that makes 1% of our amount. And we have one year.
At the end of that year, our total will be $37.78.
I understand, the idea is utopian, and the amount in the end is not that big. Ok, I decided to test it on a longer time frame. I took 5 and 10 years.
In 5 years, from $1 would be $1994.99.
Already a bit inspiring when comparing $1 and the final amount.
In 10 years that amount will be $2.9 million.
That's how compound interest works. And even though we don't have a 365% APR in Hive. But we have at least 20% in stable HBD coin. Outside of Hive, there is bitcoin, which can give 100% p.a. if you buy it right.
Hive lets anyone who wants it make their first dollar. But what we do with that dollar is up to us. Of course, many newcomers will withdraw that money. Each for his own reason. But it is unlikely that they do it for a purpose.
Anything "because" it's always worse that "in order to".
I don't withdraw that $1 because I need to buy something with $1. I just can't buy anything good with it.
I leave that one dollar in savings or in HP to be able to buy something in the future.
And now to my own numbers!
Primary Goal
My primary goal is 100,000 HP. But I decided to track it in 10,000 HP increments, so that's the number I want to see by the end of 2023.
This week, my HP went up 39 HP from 2001 to 2040. It's not 1% a day, but the amount grows all the time).
Secondary Goal
Secondary goal is 7,000 AP. For this week, my AP went up 134 ALIVE from 6552 to 6686 AP. The completion rate at this point is 95%. And then I got 2% a week. Already pretty good!

The overall percentage on all my targets went up 0.58% from 39.51% to 40.09%.
We often underestimate the importance of our small amounts, small steps, and long distance. If we add to this the inspiration and potential of Hive, we don't know what trivial saving within Hive can lead to.
Simple words, but something to think about...
Starting to saving is easy, setting goals and following them is fun. At the end of the road, there is a prize waiting for us, which we will choose for ourselves. And it's not even about the money. It's about what you do next. Who you help and who you make happier.
