Through Bucharest

A city of contrasts, blending Eastern and Western influences. Here the Bucharest's triumphal arch in Romania in present form was built in six stages between 1935 and 1936, inspired by the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. It's always fascinating when you drive here towards the airport or back.

it was again a very short break here unfortunately not much time for looking around for more

It is amazing how even a couple hours stop in a place like this can produce such a historic walk! I have never been to Bucharest, til now I suppose, and would love to. What strikes me often when traveling in Europe is the eras witnessed by thee buildings. How many were built fortified and prepared for war while most of ours in North America have never seen such a thing.
