Giovanni Kupang Catholic Middle School continues to carry out exams for class IX students, while upholding the credibility of the school and the authenticity of the results even though it is in a different system. Principal of SMPK Giovanni Kupang, RD. Joannes P. Bria, Pr., S.Fil., M.M., said that all participants were able to carry out the exam well, even though there were a few technical obstacles in its implementation.
“Today the school is holding exams on the 4th day. "And so far in the 4 days of this exam, 84 participants, our class IX students, the process went well and there were no significant obstacles," said RD. Joannes Bria, Thursday (11/05/2023) when interviewed by this media in his office.
"That's true, there are a few obstacles experienced by the PK service in preparing for the exam. "Then, based on the department's decision, it was given to MKKS to help with the implementation of this year's school exams," he continued.
RD. Joannes Bria said, by mutual agreement and through careful consideration, the exam was carried out using a cellphone. Then the results are brought to the department to maintain the principles of confidentiality and trust in the school.
"84 of our children use cellphones to take exams and do not use computers. "It's true, this school has a computer lab with 20 PCs, but based on certain considerations such as electricity and signals, a joint decision was finally reached to use an Android cellphone," he said.
"So far, based on the existing mechanism, the department has asked us to immediately submit the results every time we finish an exam to the Kupang City PK Service office. "This is to maintain the confidentiality and credibility of the school," he explained.
He also hopes that, before the exam is taken, it is important to prepare well so that there are no obstacles and solution steps can be prepared. And in the end, the test results obtained can be accounted for.
"My hope is that it is important to prepare the exam thoroughly in advance, both in terms of student data and simulations so that you can see the strength of the server. "And then evaluated to find solutions, such as dividing exams based on school areas and centralizing data processing servers so that there is no overcapacity," he said.
"And I also hope that the exam process which is currently taking place is in accordance with the mutual agreement, namely maintaining honesty, authenticity and credibility of the grades in each educational unit," he hoped.
Further RD. Joannes Bria explained that the sudden change in the system certainly had quite an impact on students' preparations, but the school had provided sufficient provisions as an anticipatory step, so that the exams could run smoothly.
“This changed system has a particular impact on children's readiness. "But on the other hand, I and the teachers have made certain preparations. If that happens, we have prepared the options that we will carry out so that the exam continues," he said.
"So yesterday, when the simulation didn't take place, we prioritized school level exams in the sense that there are 4 subjects that fall under the authority of the school, namely arts and culture, religion, PJOK and crafts. We prioritize that one, so that children don't feel empty, because they have learned. They have to keep testing, because it has a big impact on the child's mental and physical impact. "So, so far all 84 of our children have been able to take exams and don't feel too uncomfortable about this change.
