I saw this familiar bloody red thing on top of Pepito's cage. I asked Mama why it is in there. She said Pepito ate it, so she harvested some in the backyard. I even asked her why she didn't ask me to accompany her, but she just answered, "What am I, a kid that needs a guide?" Like, I really just want to come to see the backyard too (≧▽≦), Mama can be a savage sometimes, aigooi. Lol.
Anyways, here's that thing. It looks like some kind of berries, a fruit or whatever. It looks familiar because we have this near the fences, it's between our land and our neighbor's land. No one planted it, it just grew in there, and we only noticed it when it started to bear fruits. It is really noticeable and hard to ignore because it is so red and pretty.
We're always curious if it is edible, but we didn't find out. And, even if it is, there's no way that we will try eating it. Lol. Especially it is an unfamiliar fruit to us. Thanks to these clear photos, though, I was able to find out the name of this plant. It's called Bloodberry with the scientific name rivina humilis. I found out the birds eat this, so this is the reason why Pepito eats it.
Another thing is, from its roots to the leaves and the fruits, they are all poisonous. So yep, very bad for humans. Good thing when it grows we didn't try eating it. Lol. We are not that curious about it. But I really love its tiny white flowers, which are really the opposite color of its fruits, which are dark and red. But whoa, it looks like a normal small berry, and I think anyone would not think that it is bad for the human body.
I tried to open one fruit of these berries, and the inside juices is really red. So it's the reason why this could be good as ink or a dye, Pepito's poop is also reddish. But I can't understand why this can be used as intestinal tonic, can treat colds, diarrhea, gonorrhea, ovarian pain, blood purifier, and antioxidant, like is there maybe a special process to make it as a medicine? Ah, either way, I'll never ever try consuming it. Lol.
So I took a lot of photos of these berries because they look so pretty. It's a pretty good subject, no? What do you think? I felt so excited when I saw it because I'm already thinking of what angles I should take for this bloodberries. Ehe. I actually couldn't take decent and clear photos of this before because its too small and everytime I tried, it easily moving just by a lightly strong wind. So it often come out blurry. But now I was able to take some clear photos because there's a lot of them. I informed Mama about how poisonous it is to human if consumed in large quantity.
