Homemade Calendula Oil

in #hive-120078last year

So it's time to make another dose of my homemade calendula oil. Since last year it has just finished and now marigolds are in full bloom and abundant in our garden.

Here's how I prepare it:

I collect fresh flowers and dry them in a shady and airy place.

When they are dry, I cover them with olive oil and put them in a fireproof container. I boil the mixture in a water bath, making sure that the water does not boil. When the olive oil changes color, I take the mixture out.

I pour the mixture into a jar and leave it in the sun for 24 hours.

Then I strain, pour into glass containers and keep in the refrigerator. The oil has a shelf life of 2 years.

The oil is very useful for dry and cracked skin, helps with insect bites, burns, wounds, lichen and other skin problems.

Thank you for stopping by!

That sounds like a nice simple way of doing it! We have loads of calendulas about ready to come into bloom, so might give something like this a try - thanks for the inspiration!

It would be great if you could make calendula oil too @labyrinths - it's really easy and the benefits of the oil are priceless.

That is beautiful.
