Hello Fellow Foodies,
I have a question for you. Do you live to eat or eat to live?
Whatever you response I'm sure you've had many chances to both eat and live up to this point in your life.
Well, enough of the small talk. What I really want to say is that after a long break from having a sizeable foodie group in our apartment, we finally had some Japanese families over for Jamaican food and activities.
We started off making a simple fruit arrangement in groups. It was pretty simple as the children were the main ones doing it. We simply provided them with 3 kinds of fruit (apples, pineapple, grapes) on skewers and had them put the fruits on the skewers alternately. After doing that they had to stick the skewers into a huge orange 🍊. Since the skewers were a bit sharp, each child was assisted by an adult.
After our group activities we started off the Saturday evening in true Jamaican style with some soup.
Looks like someone outside herself again with this vegetable dish. You can almost visualise the love that went into preparing this vegetable delight. Can you recognise the veggies from the outside to the center of the plate?
Jamaican Jerk and Curry Chicken
We couldn't have a gathering like this without including some Jamaican style jerk and curry chicken. This time around both meats were served with rice and red peas.
We were blessed enough to have an order of Jamaican patties on hand so we reheated them and cut them into smaller bite sized pieces. They were a bit spicy 🔥 so we advised the parents to try it before giving it to their children.
Overall we had an awesome lunch with a few Japanese families sharing Jamaican food and culture with them.
Do you have opportunities to share food and or culture with other families in your area? Drop a comment and let us know.
