Being a mom of three teens is already erm... exciting. Throw into the mix that we're a blended family and part of the LQBTQ+ community through our wonderful daughter, @aimeludick who has taught us so much about life. At 16, we couldn't be prouder. We didn't know how to support her at first, but really, it just meant loving her for who she is and she's flourished. As she's started to feel comfortable in herself, her grades have improved dramatically and she's been able to mature in such a healthy way. We couldn't be prouder.
As far as men's mental health goes, it's another touchy subject, with tonnes of stigma, that you would think in this day and age, would not be so, but here we are, with suicide rates up and millions of men feeling like they can't reach out for help.
So, Aime and I decided to combine the two and make our annual pride cupcakes and include cupcakes to celebrate and bring awareness to the importance of men's mental health. It's especially important to @zakludick considering we're raising two young men!
Also, what's wrong with shoving tonnes of delicious cupcakes down our throats! Lol. Like we need an excuse.
I used my buttercream icing and vanilla cupcake recipes which you can find here:
Claire's Crazy Cakes, Bakes and Kitchen Hacks: Chapter 22
and all three kids and I had a turn piping and loading the piping guns. We had a glorious, messy and wonderful time! Green and yellow for Men's Mental Health Awareness Month and a Rainbow icing for Pride Month :)
This vanilla cupcake recipe is truly flop proof and absolutely so delicious. Light, fluffy, moist and just perfection! It really can't go wrong.
We did at least share with the neighbors... but I'd be lying if I said I haven't been scoffing them in bed - with @zakludick's help, of course!
Check out this awesome YouTube video for rainbow icing. It's so much easier than you think, whether you use a piping bag or a piping gun!
And don't worry about being perfect at all. You will make a mess, and that's ok! It's all part of the fun :)
