I'm not just into gardening; I'm also skilled in cooking and baking delicious treats. Today, I’ll be sharing a sweet dish from Asia, specifically from the Philippines. It’s simple, easy to prepare, and requires only four ingredients.
Here are the ingredients I used:
- 1/2 cup of brown sugar
- 1 cup of glutinous rice
- 1 cup of mung beans
- 3 cups of coconut milk
Here’s how I started cooking:
- I sautéed the mung beans in a pan until they turned brown. Then, I set them aside to cool.
- I lightly crushed the mung beans using a mortar and pestle.
3 . I used fresh coconut milk because it’s more flavorful and delicious than canned. I boiled the coconut milk briefly.
4 . I added the glutinous rice and mung beans, then stirred. I cooked this over low heat for 15 to 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, or until the coconut milk was fully absorbed.
5 . I added the brown sugar and gently mixed it in. Done! =)
It can be enjoyed either warm or cold. Personally, I find it tastier when it’s slightly warm, especially during chilly weather.
The result will be even better if, after cooking, you let it rest for two hours to allow the glutinous rice to fully absorb the coconut milk and sugar. =)
