I'm taking up the challenge of the weekly #edtopic again, which is run by @mypathtofire - and this weeks subject is something sweet ! I have an insatiable sweet tooth, so this works pretty good for me !
Above is a pic of my fav ever dessert - I absolutely love banana splits ! Its something I have loved since my childhood in the 70s and 80s, and you dont actually find it around much in restaurants any more - although we did find a place in Venice that had it on the menu when we were there in October, and thats where the pic above comes from. And I was on vacation, so I obviously had to have a beer to wash it down too !
If you dont know what a banana split is, it generally consists of:
- A banana split in half lengthways (hence the name),
- Around 2-3 scoops of ice cream - I prefer vanilla, chocolate and strawberry,
- Squirty cream from a can,
- And then some kind of sauce, eg, chocolate sauce,
- And sometimes a wafer to top it off !
I have been buying a haul of chocolate (above), what with Easter coming up. Although my daughter is nearly 14 now, she still likes to have an Easter egg hunt ! And ironically she does not eat that much chocolate, so I'll get to eat most of it ! So come Easter sunday, I'll have to hide the chocolate around the house the night before so that she can go looking for it when she gets up in the morning.
I particularly like the pink chocolate pig, and the chocolate unicorn - look at those bad boys ! And who doesnt love a chocolate orange - we devour those in our house quite often - we all like em !
My sweet tooth is so bad that I do generally eat something sweet every day. At work, the vending machine is not that far away from my desk which is a bit of a disaster, and I usually end up buying either a snickers or a pack of skittles each day. They also serve huge cakes in the canteen - they have a massive flapjack, which is the size of a brick, which is what I usually get. I really do have to try hard not to buy one each day, because its so big and I dont really need it.
So yes, I love my sweets, and thats my update on the #edtopic for this week !
All the best from Scotland @hoosie
