After having a feast at Limapulo for our friend's birthday, I wanted to give her a treat for drinks and dessert. What is birthday without cake, right? So we headed on to another place at Chinatown.
Flaon
This is one of the many famous instagrammable small stop-by cafe shops at Chinatown.
Location: 180, Jalan Tun H S Lee, City Centre, 50000 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur.
I came across this café via mainstream platform and I found it interesting, so I already had in mind to bring Michelle here. Both of us are the thrifty type and we do not go to cafés for splurge. Just a free sky juice from home or any instant tea or coffee will do. Therefore, I thought, let's give her a special treat and experience at the same time.
The entrance looked special. It reminded me of Flintston cartoon haha.
Once in, you would see the minimalistic design, clean and sleek. Quite a small shop actually. Not suitable for big crowd. I think it is more suitable solo drink or a group of few, or couple visit.
I do appreciate the stone-like texture used for wall and counter.
However, there is a separate wine bar at first floor which can cater for big groups or event.
Overall, I think people come here for the ambience, the nice feeling to sit and enjoy, and to feel that you are 'atas' people. I am not sure, 'coz we don't frequent these sort of cafés.
Food and drink
There were limited cakes, only 3 on display. They looked unique, nicely decorated and so were the price. So it would be once in a blue moon we splurge on cakes. One cake about RM20+, no harm trying for once in our life. She chose the 'Lady Coco' and 'Pina Colada' there. One to be eaten there, one to be packed home. Another one we did not choose was called Blackpink. 😂
Happy Birthday, Lady Michelle with her Lady Coco cake!
It was an earl grey flavoured cake, with layers of sponge cake and pudding-jelly-like layer. Overall, the taste was acceptable but honestly, it would not make us crave for next trip. You know what I mean. Good side was it was not a too sweet cake. Nice to the palette.
I ordered a fruit juice, she ordered a matcha, while husband ordered a cappuccino. Nothing special about the drinks. In fact, I thought not worth for the price paid. But yes, we did enjoyyyy the experience there, hanging out together. That was the take away!!!
We chatted so much that hours went by like minutes. Sometimes, we thought there was nothing to be talked about but once started, one topic led to another. It was a great moment sharing thoughts on life and how we view things from different perspective. Sort of for us to know one another more. Indeed, cheers to more years celebrating you!
Later on, she showed me another cake which she packed home and mentioned that cake was nicer, a pandan layer cake with pineapple jelly layer, sounds special right?
