It was a rare Saturday in the month of August when we did not go to visit our Aunt. Reason being, it was Pokémon Community Day, one which the husband would not miss and he usually invited the boys to tag along. Of course, I tagged along too since my tuition was cancelled, and it would include some walking around the town — exercise was always good!
We chose to walk around Wangsa Walk Mall, and the area around it due to high volume of rare Pokémon around that area. I did not play, so I just walked around with them while looking around. Time flies, we managed to walk for about 2 hours. When it was time for late lunch, around 3pm, we stopped at a road side stall to eat something.
Kontena Café
Location: 1, Jalan Wangsa Delima 5, Pusat Bandar Wangsa Maju, 53300 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur
This place had been closed since the outbreak of Covid19. After that, they did some renovation and the whole thing looks great. The name of the shop is based on the design too. It does look like just a container. 😊
It is an open-air concept, we chose sit outside as I was in need of superb ventilation. Husband said the inside's ventilation was okay too considering the many fans installed. Great job to them for upgrading the whole place.
Food we ordered
The main reason we came here was because of me craving their turmeric chicken rice, which I had seen being advertised by people in social media. It was famous in the month of August because of its promotional price at RM5 flat, in conjunction with National Day.
Nasi Ayam Kunyit
Kunyit = turmeric.
Nasi = rice.
Ayam = Chicken
The whole plate came with really generous amount of perfectly stir fried turmeric chicken, despite the promotional price, they did not cut down on the amount of chicken. Another great job! It was so delicious. A bit crisp on the outside, juicy on the inside. Of course, I ate this with rice and their aromatic chilli sauce dipping. Yums!
Classic Kontena Burger
Eldest son couldn't resist but to order one of his favourite food — burger. He said it was great! But not as great as daddy's burger. Husband tasted one bite and said it was delicious. Properly marinated beef patty, and great sauces to blend with. The burger came with a small amount of fries.
Tendon soup
Husband was not very hungry, so he ordered just a bowl of tendon soup. This was so savoury, and aromatic with all the herbs used for cooking the soup. The beef tendon was very soft too. It came with three slices of white bread which my husband gave to my youngest son, whom just recovered from some intestine pain.
Halfway eating, it was raining cats and dogs. We switched to another table which could prevent us from getting the rain splash. They continued their Pokémon catching at the table, while I watched the TV at the café. It was a great family time, doing things together and eating together. I kinda loved this moment, slow-going, non-rushing day. Bliss!
