Hi there Hivers! hope everyone is doing well, and for today's content, I will be sharing our homemade recipe of Tuna Carbonara together with my wife. We decide to make one since she was craving it, she once tasted it in one resto near her workplace and for the first time, she fell in love with the taste. And for that reason, we decided to make our own version of the Carbonara dish but in this recipe, we used Tuna instead of cured pork which is commonly served in traditional carbonara recipes.
Since it was our first time making the dish we watched some tutorial videos for proper cooking procedures and the ingredients needed as well. There are lots of ways in making a Carbonara dish but we choose the simplest yet affordable.
First off, we prepared all the ingredients needed. Of course, we need pasta since it's Carbonara we're making. Canned Tuna, all-purpose cream, evaporated milk, and canned mushroom. Garlic and onions were also added to the ingredients which will be sliced into smaller pieces for they will be the first to get sauteed in the pan.
To begin with, we first boil the pasta with fair salted water until such the pasta gets firm but not too much. While waiting for the pasta we'll prepare the pan and use butter instead of ordinary cooking oil. Then we sauteed first the sliced mushrooms for about 5 minutes, then followed by garlic and onions sliced into small pieces sauteed as well for another 5 minutes.
After mixing the Tuna and sauteing it for about 5 minutes mix in the evaporated milk and the all-purpose cream in the pan mix it well, and of course the cheese, and in our case we added black pepper to add a little spicy after taste flavor of Carbonara but it depends on you of course. You can actually add something else like red bell pepper cut into strips or even chopped parsley but in our case, we only use what's available in the kitchen.
Finally, after a few minutes of boiling the pasta, it's now ready to be served as well as all the ingredients on the pan that we had mixed. And instead of putting the pasta on the pan, we served the pasta first on the plate and cascade the cream over the pasta, we even topped more cheese on it to have a more cheesy flavor.
And in fairness, my wife gives a two thumbs up on the dish. She even compared the taste to the one she tasted at the resto and it somehow tastes even more flavorful than what she ordered. True enough my wife's cravings were satisfied. At the same time, we had a new recipe to be listed on our menu.
