As soon as we landed, we thought of going to the nearest convenience store near our hotel. Our hotel room was not yet ready so, we had the time to go around and look for some refreshments.
Easy to spot the nearest convenience store, thanks to Google Maps! 😁
Oh, look at the ice cream selection.🍦 It would be so tempting to pick one, but it only makes me more thirsty, so I had to skip that one.
The pre-cooked meat is perfect for people who do not have time to cook or are too lazy to cook like me, haha.😆 They look tasty!
Pre-made meals with everything from protein to carbs. It is so convenient and nutritious! A hearty meal, but I only needed a quick snack.
Selection of salads and pastas, - and packs of edamame. I have not tried edamame from a convenience store before but only tried it in Japanese restaurants back home.
A nice, one onigiri for me, but I cannot choose between salmon and tune so I just got them both. There was an English translation on every pack so it was a breeze. 🍙😋
I think this is the melon pan that I also see in anime specially on school settings. Apparently, there is no actual melon on the bread but named it because it looks like it. 🍈
I bet this is the version of Lawson’s “Famichiki” of Family Mart. We were kind of confused as to how to get the chicken karaage out of the hot glass container, so we asked the staff how and she said to just spray our hands with alcohol and use the thong provided.
It is easy to communicate as long as you know basic Japanese. I think they appreciate you more if you know some words. In my case, I can speak, read, and write juuust a little, 😊 but just travel with someone who is really good in Japanese and you will not worry a thing, haha! Works in train transits too! 😌
When I saw this manga, my eyes went ✨sparky sparky~✨ One Piece’s latest release and some Pokemon cards on the cashier's desk. More magazines and mangas were available by the exit. 😍
Time to chow! 😋
As if like a mukbang haul. 😆 Chairs were available to sit on the corner. We have some companies on the side, some from the working class, and some students. We got 10 items- a lemon tea, tomato juice, Pocari Sweat, (is that a milk water?), chicken karaage, two onigiris, a flan, and two fries.
The chicken karaage was warm and dense. In my taste, it was just missing a little bit of salt and juiciness. Visually appealing in those golden brown crispy exteriors. It was worth it. We got the “regular” instead of the “red” coz we assumed it was a spicy variant. And, oooh the packaging is a cute chi~kin. 4.5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Grilled salmon onigiri was okay. It was alright. It has the right amount of protein and rice. I like the crispiness of the seaweed wrapped in the fluffy rice. Compared to what I buy back home, the rice grain is different. Much fluffier and densely packed. 4/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Not too sweet and not too bland, just the right balance. The flan itself is glistening. Not sure if I have to flip the cup to get the caramel sauce on the bottom. However I ate it, the flan was just silky smooth and easily glided on every scoop. I wish it had a bigger size, hehe. 5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Visually, it looks crunchy already. I was greeted by an aromatic scent of savory and umami. I was not sure if this was a mashed potato or a yam deep-fried to a golden, crispy exterior. But whatever it is, every bite is happiness~ 5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
We were so full and satisfied when got some to take to the hotel. Ahh~ I wish I could teleport back, haha! 😆
