Sometimes being open to new things can be very rewarding.
At times, we find ourselves sticking to the same routine and the same meal out of convenience. We find comfort in the familiar that sometimes we’re limiting our options. We think that our options were the best just because it was also affirmed by others. The thing is sometimes going out of the mainstream can be a very rewarding experience.
There is this famous noodle chain in the country called Mie Gacoan. They sell spicy noodles with different levels at a very affordable place. The place is always packed with visitors and they are always the #1 go to a meal for any kind of celebration. Somehow, I find their noodles subpar and too oily yet it took me a couple of years before I could eventually find similar noodles with better taste, a slightly healthier option for this convenient meal.
This is a small place, not necessarily a chain called Mie Djoetek. This place sells a similar type of egg noodle that’s famous for its customized spiciness levels. The difference is that this noodle joint has broth that rarely can be found in most noodle places here.
Among many of their menu, their creamy options are the best. It’s basically milky savory broth that feels so rich when it's poured into the spicy bowl of this noodle. Is it even an edible combo? Definitely yes.
When you go to a noodle joint like this, you also should never miss ordering one of the Dim sum menu offers. They always have a variety of dumplings, rolls and even meat that you can order as a side dish accompanying the noodle soup.
It’s such a hearty meal especially if you’re eating for one. The prices are also quite affordable and with such a meal, it won’t hurt our wallet. It’s filling and definitely gets you through the day.
Perhaps this is why people go to this noodle joint when they crave something cheap but also filling & hearty. And specifically to this place, it was rewarding going against the mainstream and ditching the popular place. I made the right choice and was quite rewarded with how delicious their egg noodles are.
Their place is also connected to a recently opened bakery and so, it’s a combo place especially for me who loves noodle and bread almost equally.
They sell variety of bread that surprisingly was good and affordable as well. It was the aroma of that bakery that reeled me in and I ended up getting some and is now my go-to place when I crave delicious baked goods.
