Greetings to you my dear hivers! How are you all doing today? Last night, I had dinner with my family. It was our last dinner with the whole family before my brother leaves the Philippines to study in Canada.
So, we were back at Il Corso, looking for a restaurant that wasn't too crowded, and thankfully, we found one. We happened to pass by this adorable seaside restaurant and decided to have dinner there, namely Chikaan sa Cebu. The restaurant is located by the sea, and you can hear the waves as they crash against the shore, which I find very relaxing.
When we first walked in, the store's aesthetic drew my attention. The inside was packed, and there were still many customers eating and waiting outside, but as we waited for our orders, we didn't notice that there were only two groups left inside.
I noticed their placemat while waiting for the food to be served, it had pictures of food items and letters with blanks. Oh! So you could answer it while waiting. You must fill in the blanks of letters to complete the answers to questions about the foods they serve.
When I looked around the room, I noticed that the rest of the family, including mom and dad, were also busy answering the placemat. I was listening to them as they recalled the food names.
The plain white rice was served first, which made us even more hungry, and was followed by the clear soup, tinolang manok (chicken stew/soup).
Calamares are squid that have been battered and deep fried. One of my personal favorites. When we go out to eat, it's almost always present. We ordered a pitcher of cucumber lemonade as our beverage.
We also have pinakbet with chicharon, fried chicken with potato leaf/chips, and bam-i guisado (stir fried noodle dish). The restaurant serves a wide variety of delicious dishes.
The buttered garlic shrimp can be seen in the photo above. I wasn't able to take a solo shot of it. It was delicious! Other dishes such as boneless pochero (boneless stewpot), spicy squid sisig (spicy sizzling squid), and bicol express (spicy Filipino stew with chillies) were not photographed. All of them are delicious, but my favorites are the shrimp and calamares.
We had one of the crew take a picture of us as a family, and across from me is my brother, we won't be eating together for a while once he flies to Canada, so I kept teasing him and taking photos of him.
