Margarine is a widely used ingredient, as part of the daily diet, as well as part of ingredients in different savory and sweet recipes.
Talking about margarine brand tastes is a topic that has varied a lot over the years.
The food industry, the commercialization of imported products, the competition between brands has influenced a lot in current times.
I grew up with Mavesa margarine and Rika butter (the latter was not to everyone's taste, although now I would like to have it available to enjoy it). Mavesa margarine had no competition in the past, maybe there were other brands but in taste it was unbeatable.

The price of margarine is another factor that has varied a lot and for this reason sometimes, according to the budget, the taste of the brand we are used to must be left aside.
For reasons of price and shortage a few years ago, I think that in most homes if there was not enough to buy it, others bought it because it was the brand Deline, from Brazil, the products that were available and came from the neighboring country.
The Mavesa margarine disappeared for a while, but when I found it on the shelves, because of its price, I moved to another one. The presentation of Mavesa margarine went through a process of physical changes, although this change affected its flavor, therefore, many have left it aside.

In the last few months Nelly margarine is the one I have been buying for price and taste reasons, for us it tastes better than Mavesa. So when we find different brands and prices we stick with Nelly margarine.
Sometimes, out of habit we take the small size, a habit from a few years ago to the present due to the price issue, before we always took the 1/2 kilo or 500 grams container.
Nowadays, Nelly margarine has become my favorite. Although I don't use margarine often anymore, sometimes and it depends, to toast bread or to make a cookie recipe.
We should be thankful that there are now several brands on the shelves and there is plenty to choose from.
