One of my all time favorite places here in Playa del Carmen is the
café /lunch room 'Basic Foodie'.
A little bit of jungle in the city.
I am there right now, live so to speak. Writing on my phone which is a drag but I choose not to bring my laptop along today as I was meeting friends for brunch here.
New Hive & Listnerds recruits people!! You'll hear from them soon enough, and I'm sure they will blow you away like they did with me...
Anyway, we met at 11 am and before we knew it it was 3.30 pm. 😁
They had lots of questions and we also got side tracked quite a bit talking about how the world is and how we're going to change it haha.
Well, nothing too serious 🙃.
They left, and I decided to stay for a bit for a mini holiday away from home.
Basic Foodie is the perfect place for that. Great food, vegan and vegetarian options and many smoothies and juices as fresh as can be.
This morning I had a lovely brunch option with juice, tea or coffee, toast, avocado, eggplant and more, for 200 pesos. This translates to about $10 US, which is an absolute steal in my opinion. My lovely friends treated me to this brunch in return for my time, which in all honesty, I couldn't have spent with better people. That's not work!
Because it was getting late, and I don't really eat much for dinner anyway, I decided to have my favourite burger: The Basic burger.
Which, by the way, is anything but basic.
It's vegetarian because it has cheese, and maybe eggs, but it's absolutely divine. The patties are made with quinoa and not sure what else. It's topped with lettuce, jalapeños, tomatoes and onion, and comes with a spicy chilly seed salsa. Amazing!
I had to open it up so I can show you all the goodness that's inside this amazing feast of a burger.
Anyway, this place is an absolute must if you ever find yourself in Playa del Carmen.
