Healthy Spinach Siders!- Indian style. (Pure vegetarian)

in #hive-1205863 years ago

Many of us are food lovers and trying out some sliders or snacks is not heavy on stomach but it fulfils the cravings.
Since yesterday was Sunday we had fun staying home and cooking delicious dishes for the family. The best among them was-

Palak Pakoda (Spinach fritters)

Being vegetarian it can be served to majority of people and let me show you how it's cooked!

Ingredients

1. Spinach leaves
2. Gram flour
3. Garlic
4. Salt, chilli powder, Caraway seeds
5. Pure ghee or any oil of your choice.

It requires minimum effort and maximum results. To make a crunchy spinach fritter one needs to take a fresh batch of spinach leaves, washed and pat dried.

These leaves are full of nutrition's and taste.
If you have watched popeye the sailor man in your childhood, then it must be more than evident as how much healthy spinach is!

You got it!

Now let's run to create a batter of spinach, gram flour and all the spices. We need to take a bowl, add in the gram flour and some water and create a liquidly mixture which is not thick in consistency. add in some spices as mentioned above also chopped garlic into it and mix well.

3.png

For one full bowl, this consistency is more than enough(my mum told me to write this point as well!)
Rest to be honest Indians digest chilli food easily as compared to western people so I would recommend to please mind the consistency according to your taste buds.
Now that you have the required consistency of the batter, add in some spinach leaves so that they can be dipped nicely and since leaves are soft, handle them gently or else they might brake and your presentation might get ruined after cooking.

This is how you batter should look like, and now you just have to fry each leaves which are dipped in the batter.
You can even add chopped potato or chilli to add in more vegie flavour. but since we are talking about popeye's favourite spinach so let's just make fritters with one vegetable.

The most expensive ingredient out of today's dish is the ghee! You can use any oil of your choice and availability to fry the spinach. But here we used pure ghee. It is winters here so the ghee gets frozen that is why it looks like some solid ingredient, but as soon as flame goes on, this will melt like an oil.
Here's how it looks like after melting-

Now we need to fry the spinach with batter, please be careful with this step as the kitchen accidents are high during frying or handling hot oil.

10.png
You need to turn over the leaves after every few minutes until each side turns light brown. Always be careful before putting anything to fry as the oil should be smokin hot to make a crispy fritter.
Now wait few minutes and keep turning the leaves over and over until it turns out to be-

You can serve it with tea or eat it with sauce. It will taste delicious and it is very very healthy specially the ghee (oil) we have used is the most healthiest.
Give it a try, maybe this will become your favourite snack / slider!

Nothing like starting the week with such a tasty recipe, it's great to be able to see this step by step, I find myself in the West, specifically in Venezuela, many times I get bored of food and in this case I like being able to learn from food venetarian as it is incredibly variable. I am very grateful for this post, thank you very much for mounting it on the blockchain.

Hey friend @myndomanaure Thanks a ton for such amazing comment. I am glad you liked it. Give it as try as well and it's actually really inexpensive here.
Have a great week and keep flourishing.
