What could be better than having a sweet, tangy dessert after a long day?

If you want something refreshing and filling your heart, orange tart can be the best option. And making it at home is quite simple.

I usually don't make tart at home but when I do, I always feel like I should make it often. The taste may not come out perfect. But the homemade bliss is what makes it much tastier.

Let's see the recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup butter (cold but ready to stir)
  • 1-1½ cups of sugar according to taste (powdered mixes well with the butter)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 orange juice (I have used ½ cup of powdered orange drink called Tang as a shortcut)
  • 1 tsp of fresh lemon juice

The original recipe requires heavy cream and orange zest but I excluded them for a quick recipe. You can add them if you want.

Step-by-step process:

The crust making->

First, we need to prepare the Crust. If the crust is perfect, the tart tastes much better.

Stir the cold butter to make a smooth mix, add 1/3 of the sugar, and mix them well. I have used 1 egg yolk while combining the flour to make the crust color better but that's optional.

Combine the flour until it makes a smooth dough. Place the dough in the fridge for 1/2 - 3 hours so that it gets a little hard. Otherwise, it wouldn't be ready to roll and make the tart crust.

Roll the dough after taking it off from the fridge and place it on the tart pan. Press and remove the extra sides. Prick the bottom / make designs with a fork on the bottom.

I used my biscuit pan as I don't have a tart pan.

Place a baking paper with some lentils or beans on the top to put it in the oven. It helps to crust to not get too crispy.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake it for 15 minutes. I made it on the gas oven that's why it came out a little soft at the bottom.

Preparing the filling ->

We have our crust, now it's time to make the filling.

Add one egg with 1/2 cup of sugar. Whisk them until combined. I have added the powdered orange juice to the mix. You can use fresh orange juice as well. Add lemon juice to make it tangy and some est if you like.

Cook in low heat and stir continuously until it forms a thick mixture.

Pour it over the crust.

Place the tart back in the oven and bake for about 15-20 minutes or until the filling looks done.

Take it off, and let it cool for a while.

Tada!

Your tart is ready to enjoy.

I know, it doesn't look perfect like the bakery. But believe me, the taste was delicious and refreshing. I loved the sweet and tangy flavor with the crispiness of the crust.

This can be a perfect dessert after a heavy meal or as a snack, it works best to boost my mood. If you are a tart lover, you can try making it in this simple way. I hope you will like it.

That tart looks really simple and delicious! My favorite part is definitely the crunchy side of it.

I love the crunchy sides too. Thanks for your appreciation.

Looks good and I think it was good in taste also. I think I haven't tried this one any time.

!PIZZA

Trat is a fancy dessert in the bakery and the price is very high. Rather you can make it at home and enjoy.
Thanks for your complement.

I love how simple this is, but it looks so tasty! I will have to try this. We have tang in many different versions, so it'd be nice to experiment. Thanks for sharing this!

Well, as a lazy cook I found and shortcut and tada! It's done in less time and effort. lol
You can try it with other flavoured Tang, like the pineapple one would be great I believe.
